EPA admits electricity bills will rise,

In calculating the benefits of curbing climate change, the EPA applied a novel methodology: it included the benefits to foreigners. That is unusual, and dramatically changes the results, unless other big emitters follow America’s example

Yeah, sure, other countries are going to follow suit to make their country people POORER.

ssssshhsssss we shouldn't talk about this. Might make people upset knowing they are going to have to pay more for electricity now. Especially since most are already dirt broke living off foodstamps.

Maybe we should lower the regulations for housing and allow mud huts?

Rulings like this will do nothing to prevent carbon emissions. In order to do that, the country will have to outlaw coal mining, which it will never do. America has a booming business exporting coal to China and India. No one is going to rule against that, and China and India are not going to allow climate change concerns put a halt to their continued economic expansion. The net result: China and India continue to burn U.S. mined coal, and the CO2 will simply be added to the atmosphere over there instead of here.

That's right, while we all get even more broke.  Neutral

I don't agree with you on many issues, Chrissy, but I do agree with your assertion on your other thread that global warming is mostly a political issue. The underlying issue is eventually forcing the world to submit to a global government under the auspices combating a warming climate.

The hidden-hands behind the movement are what we need to worry about. Those hands are not so much worried about global warming as they are controlling the human race.

I know that new developments to our limited understandings don't matter to obamayuppyites... so cover your eyes:

Yes both:

The Western Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) is the segment of the continental ice sheet that covers West (or Lesser) Antarctica, the portion of Antarctica on the side of the Transantarctic Mountains which lies in the Western Hemisphere. The WAIS is classified as a marine-based ice sheet, meaning that its bed lies well below sea level and its edges flow into floating ice shelves. The WAIS is bounded by the Ross Ice Shelf, the Ronne Ice Shelf, and outlet glaciers that drain into the Amundsen Sea.

It is estimated that the volume of the Antarctic ice sheet is about 25.4 million km 3 ,and the WAIS contains just under 10% of this,or 2.2 million km 3 . [1] The weight of the ice has caused the underlying rock to sink by between 0.5 and 1 kilometres [2] in a process known as isostatic depression.

Under the force of its own weight, the ice sheet deforms and flows. The interior ice flows slowly over rough bedrock. In some circumstances, ice can flow faster in ice streams, separated by slow-flowing ice ridges. The inter-stream ridges are frozen to the bed while the bed beneath the ice streams consists of water-saturated sediments. Many of these sediments were deposited before the ice sheet occupied the region, when much of West Antarctica was covered by the ocean. The rapid ice-stream flow is a non-linear process still not fully understood; streams can start and stop for unclear reasons.

When ice reaches the coast,it either calves or continues to flow outward onto the water. The result is a large, floating ice shelf affixed to the continent.

Once the global government is set-up, I suppose that countries which didn't meet their carbon-reduction mandates could be sanctioned, or even attacked, if necessary.

Never considered this angle Z. Damn good theory though.

Of course you know seaoats gonna bust your nuts over this cuz he got flooded a couple of times in the last ten years and that jives with the 97 percent of peer reviewed experts who are predicting doom and gloom.

Why can't pregnant women eat an oyster out of the east bay area.....mercury........what do you think pours out of the charlie crist coal fired plant every day.....carbon and mercury. Our electric rates should not go up over a ten year average as natural gas replaces the same because our supplies of the same are STILL expanding. This has nothing to do with warming as a first criteria......it is pollution. Natural gas cuts emissions in half. Anybody need a road map?

Hydroelectric cuts that in half...lets dam up the Escambia river and sing Kumbaya baby!

I guess seaoat is calling the EPA a liar. But then again he thinks he knows more than anyone else on the planet  Laughing

Z, I agree with you. I think the global warming tool is the one tool which will be used to "finish" creating the global governance.

This one propaganda tool can bring about shared global worry which will help them initiate redistribution of wealth and resources, mandate laws globally eventually.

But before they can have a true global governance they must get rid of strong willed American patriots who cling to their guns and the idea of a sovereign nation. And they are doing a great job of it too, just look at all the Anti-American people in this nation.

Water vapour is the most abundant and important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere

Bingo... but that doesn't fit any of the current dooms day scenarios that redistributes the standard of living.

A dam on the Escambia river would produce no electricity. Natural Gas however can replace dirty coal and cut emissions in half. The debate like the debate about acid rain twenty years ago is about pollution. However, never in our history have we had cheap and available Natural Gas in such quantities to replace our dependency on coal today. Stupid cannot be handicapped. However, all over America the NG peaker plants are running full time. Wind production is increasing, and pollution is being reduced.
