MORE SHEER DESPERATION FROM PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!

The Obama Lie That Was So Bad the Washington Post Said, ‘On Just About Every Level, This Claim is Ridiculous’

May. 9, 2014 2:16pm

Four Pinocchios for Obama’s claim that Republicans have ‘filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation’

“Here’s what’s more disconcerting. Their [Republicans'] willingness to say no to everything — the fact that since 2007, they have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class just gives you a sense of how opposed they are to any progress — has actually led to an increase in cynicism and discouragement among the people who were counting on us to fight for them.”

– President Obama, remarks at a DCCC dinner, May 7, 2014

In addressing a dinner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Los Angeles, President Obama made a rather striking claim — that Senate Republicans have filibustered “500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class.”

Regular readers knows that The Fact Checker has objected to the way that Senate Democrats tally these figures, but the president’s claim makes little sense no matter how you do the numbers.

1. A politician uses a number in a speech.

2. A fact checker writes an article about that number and further explains how the politician arrived at it. The fact checker goes on to suggest that the politician may have taken some liberty in the process of arriving at that number, and even goes so far as to say it is quite a stretch of the imagination. This is an event that occurs roughly once every 5 minutes during an election cycle.

3. Markle creates an all-caps thread title citing "MORE SHEER DESPERATION FROM PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!..."

4. Appreciate the irony and laugh.

Who's desperate? No war in Syria, Iran or Ukraine, Christy and Jeb Bush's presidential hopes are in the shitcan, and neither Romney nor Rand Paul or Rubio can possibly whip Hillary. The women who pulled away from the republican ticket (because they know they're victims of Republicwomanamania) aren't going to jump back to any of today's potential republican presidential candidates, and both African Americans and Latinos know they're hated by the old white man's party.

Yessirreesir, we democrats are sure desperate ... LOL!

Q: using whatever sources you prefer, just how many bills have the republicans filibustered since Obama became president?

A: 12
B: 50
C: 100
D: 200
E: 400

C'mon Herr Markle show us your fact finding stuff ... if you dare.

Herr Markle's right, it wasn't 500 pieces of legislation the republicans stymied via filibuster.

Since 2007 it was 360

See:  http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/21/opinion/zelizer-congress-polarization/index.html

Question: Other than help make the government totally dysfunctional, what did the filibustering republicans accomplish?   One thing they've proved, they sure hate having a black President!

Reality.

Only the democrats are desperate as their Obama house of cards is starting to cave in...

Please explain. First, what house of cards. Second, how is it starting to cave in? It reminds me of your predictions in november 2008 and 12.

I think Mr. Markle is correct the President said 500 filibusters and in fact it was 360. This is a big number to miss. Shame on the President. However, if some of these......even a handful.....could have helped our economy and the middle class, is the 140 difference as important as those handful of important legislation which would have helped the middle class and America. Is it desperation to substantively tell the truth about what is happening to America?

The frequency of the filibuster since WWII when this rarely used device began to grow as the civil rights movement began to grow.....the Dixiecrats and Strom Thurmond mastered the same, and then the massive migration of the racist to the Republican Party continued the proud tradition of stopping any attempt for fairness and equality........three hundred and fifty filibusters since 2007 and you think the President is a liar......he should have told the truth.....I am black....the Dixiecrats and haters are determined to take people of color out of our democracy, and it is obvious that the demographics have changed and the Dixiecrats are simply going to die, and hopefully not take down the once proud Republican Party.

You can keep repeating this revision... but that doesn't make it so. Those filibusting were reelected for decades...

as DEMOCRATS.

You want to look at the concept, I want to look at the substance and reason for the filibuster.......evil is easy to define when looking at substance, and excuses are easy to define when rationalizing the procedure, and the evil.....too bad some cannot see the forest for the trees.

You mean Democrats and please give us the list of Democrats who became Republicans.

You also left out Al Gore Senior, Democrat, who filibustered AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act.

This has what to do with the LIES of President Barack Hussein Obama and this thread?

A Dixiecrat......his son was not......he could not even carry his own state.....why do you suppose that is......How many Republicans do you think got elected in TN between reconstruction and 1980?..........you need a list to figure out the truth......or could it be you know the group you shill for are nothing but racist who make Strom Thurmond look like a boy scout.

Why don't you just say that, ONCE AGAIN, you have NOTHING?  Wouldn't that be easier?

AGAIN, this has what to do with this thread?

Sponsored by big Robber Barons, Herr Markle's republican congressional whores only filibustered 360 pieces of legislation because they hate the black President of the United States who was elected twice over republican stooges.

As you know, but desperately have to try to deny, is that opinion is just that, ONE person's OPINION. As you said:

See: http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/21/opinion

Repeating the same lie does not make it true.  Soooo sorry!

What you didn't do was refute the 360 figure with fact. Tell us again why DDT is good for everyone ... LOL

Don't have to, you already did that by simply posting an OPINION.

I already proved to you about DDT and your intentional ignorance about the FACTS. All your shouting and screaming only proves your desperation.

A New Home for DDT

By DONALD ROBERTS

Published: August 20, 2007

Bethesda, Md.

DDT, the miracle insecticide turned environmental bogeyman, is once again playing an important role in public health. In the malaria-plagued regions of Africa, where mosquitoes are becoming resistant to other chemicals, DDT is now being used as an indoor repellent. Research that I and my colleagues recently conducted shows that DDT is the most effective pesticide for spraying on walls, because it can keep mosquitoes from even entering the room.

The news may seem surprising, as some mosquitoes worldwide are already resistant to DDT. But we’ve learned that even mosquitoes that have developed an immunity to being directly poisoned by DDT are still repelled by it.

Malaria accounts for nearly 90 percent of all deaths from vector-borne disease globally. And it is surging in Africa, surpassing AIDS as the biggest killer of African children under age 5.

From the 1940s onward, DDT was used to kill agricultural pests and disease-carrying insects because it was cheap and lasted longer than other insecticides. DDT helped much of the developed world, including the United States and Europe, eradicate malaria. Then in the 1970s, after the publication of Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring,” which raised concern over DDT’s effects on wildlife and people, the chemical was banned in many countries. Birds, especially, were said to be vulnerable, and the chemical was blamed for reduced populations of bald eagles, falcons and pelicans. Scientific scrutiny has failed to find conclusive evidence that DDT causes cancer or other health problems in humans.

Today, indoor DDT spraying to control malaria in Africa is supported by the World Health Organization; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; and the United States Agency for International Development.

From one of your beloved left wing sources, the New York Times.

Seriously Markle, this is one of the stupidest points of argument seen on the forums for a long long time. Let it be pointed out that if, in an opinion piece a fact is given it does not reduce the fact to an opinion.

Example: "It is my opinion, says Joe Schmo, "that the president lied when he exaggerated (unnecessarily IMO) the number of times the GOP has filibustered since 2007 from the actual number of Three Hundred Sixty to 500. Blah, blah, blah"

The 360 number is not an opinion. The fact that it appeared in an opinion piece does not turn fact into opinion. A person would have to have meatballs for brains to make such a claim. This is really ridiculous in the extreme.
