At least 10 current players in the NBA are better.

I don't care.......Michael Jordan is an icon....and I loved watching him play.

Jordan's individual accolades and accomplishments include five Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances, three All-Star Game MVP Awards, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP Awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. Among his numerous accomplishments, Jordan holds the NBA records for highest career regular season scoring average (30.12 points per game) and highest career playoff scoring average (33.45 points per game). In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press's list of athletes of the century.

He is a two-time inductee into the Basketball Hall of Fame – in 2009 for his individual career, and in 2010 as a member of the 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team ("The Dream Team").

There is nobody close to him right now. I have seen James play in person when he was with Cleveland, and I watched Jordan for 10 years......he is the best defensive player I have ever seen play in person. It is one thing to watch TV where the camera follows the ball and shows shooting and moves, but it was what he did on the defensive side in anticipation. I saw him in a Utah Jazz playoff game where he simply did something I did not think was human......he took a step, rotated and extended intercepting a pass which simply was amazing as he stole the ball and outran everybody to score.

I agree that someone like Durant is getting close on the offensive side, but there is nobody even close on the defensive end. James loses a step off smaller players who drive the lane. He used to be able to catch up and block the shot which was amazing for a man his size, but he is being beaten regularly now.

I do agree that there are amazing physical specimens and immense talent, but if you never saw Jordan play in person, you never saw all the things this man did on a basketball court......there is nobody today who is even close to the total package.....and I understand that players are getting bigger, stronger, faster, and quicker......but Jordan had something I have never seen in person from any human being.

Durant gave a wonderful acceptance speech that brought tears to my eyes...he made it a tribute to his mom. I admire him.

Back to Jordan.....MJ played with a type of grace and finese, unlike any other player I have seen...fluid and artistic.

I think James and Durant are both playing about equally this year. Clearly, James has been the better player than Durant because he plays MUCH better defense, but neither of these players are close to Jordan on defense.

I saw parts of Durant's speech and he is what is making it fun to watch the NBA again. He is a good person, and his tribute to his mother was classic, because it was no act.....he understood the sacrifices of his mother.

I think if both of these players were on better teams I might see better defensive play, but they are both completely carrying their teams and wade is no Pippen who is right up there with Jordan as an all time defensive player, and this allowed Jordan to do things on defense which were simply amazing.

I agree with you......

Jordan and Pippen wow, I loved watching them play. They were in sync.

I think Sal was to young to appreciate their ability. BTW.....can't dismiss Rodman....he had tremendous ball sense, therfore , making him a great rebounder. He got there before the ball did.

He was unbelievable. I always worried about him falling and biting off his tongue.

The Bulls on either of their three peats would march through the current NBA and probably would win 70. I have never seen the weakness of the eastern division than what I saw this year. There are many explanations, but I think team play can always beat a few stars. Phil Jackson combined with the talent of the Bulls was a special time which 18 years later would simply still dominate. Jordan would have made James look foolish.

Thanks for the analysis. My day is now complete...Your comment is an answer to something I have been concerned about for a long time.

I thought you were mourning this morning the obvious great time Bob had at the Olive........I see you listlessly walking the streets.....unable to mount your bike......devastated that somebody honestly enjoyed something you have deemed irrelevant......but I am glad I perked you up.

I have to admit Bobs  comments were  heartbreaking.  The joys and wonderment of engaging in such a stellar establishment is beyond my means at this time.  I can only hope to walk by and touch the bricks of the store front when they are closed.  But faith and hope springs eternal and maybe one day I will get the chance to walk though the doors of the "B Olive".  I can only hope...

Don't worry,  I'm still not into paying 5 clams for a dollar's worth of olive oil.  The olive store complex is just another wonderful free local attraction to me.
Same as going into the art gallerys on Gallery Night.  I aint bought nothin in there either.  lol

I did maybe backslide a little when I got all juiced about me and the little woman paying for some high falutin cooking lessons.
But my girlfriend studied up on it later (from the brochures or internet or something).  She said if we did it it was gonna be more like a home ec class.  They were teaching how to make chocolate chip cookies.
We thought it was gonna be more like a Julia Child/Emeril Lagasse thing.  You know,  uppity.  Me and her are really into getting up close and personal with the uppity and what they do.  It's a hoot.

However,  got to be about more than chocolate chip cookies for me to get out the wallet.
So you and I have still spent the same amount of money in there.  lol

Chocolate chip cookies....the recipe is on the package of chocolate chips. It has been tested by specialist and used for years.

The combination absolutely included Phil Jackson. He was the coach and the most talented players respected and followed his direction. He controlled the team.

Not sure the Heat players respond to their coach in the same way. I think James is the decision maker.

I would be interested in the " Gourmet Cooking with "Vienna Sausage"  classes or either the classes on "The Joy of Velveeta Cheese".
I think they are offered in the ' Cooking for your hired help" Classes.

I think they found the recipes in the Waterfront Rescue Mission when they tore it down. LOL

Michael Jordan remains the most phenomenal player of my lifetime . . . I can't say it any clearer he was just unbelievable . . . I liked Shaq's comment that MJ was the hip hop version of Dr. J . . . .

Y'all should know that The Bodacious Olive is just an expensive tentacle of of Studerville and that Studer isn't a wealthy man because he gave good deals to people. LOL
