You are correct when you say the utterances of this man were both ridiculous and stupid.  You go on to say that the welfare system has not worked out so well and that welfare should be temporary . . . . I agree with that premise also.

What is troubling to me is connecting two distinct and disparate topics.  Mr. Bundy is openly rebellious and bellicose in his attitude with regard to the authority of the federal government over the public lands in Nevada.  Bringing the subject of welfare into the discussion belies perhaps your own anger concerning welfare but it has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in Nevada.  Also, the BLM handled the situation well given the situation and the memory of Ruby Ridge . . . . they were wise to withdraw and not allow this dust up to expand beyond its merits.  Why make 'heroes' out of some who would surely lose their lives?
