Something very simple that everyone needs to understand about the term "obamacare".

If it's any consolation,  Play Station and X-Box killed the arcade machine business too.
And MP3 players in everybody's ears killed the jukebox business as well.  The pinball business just died of old age.   lol

I used to sell long term care and annuities and got away from it a few years back, now slowly working my way back in. Some rules have changed and the landscape, just need to study. But I did get one the other day.

Aren't you getting close to retirement by now? Or are you one of those workaholics who never retire?

I can never retire, no I am not a workaholic. Be 66 the day before you turn 65.

Aetna already thinking about leaving the exchanges.

If Aetna leaves the exchange, ObamaCare is toast. As it should be.

I doubt it very seriously, they have been a very small player in the exchanges in just a handful of states.

Why?  Because as I understand it the low deductible and cost sharing may only be good until July 1 at which time the copays for doctors go up to $65 for a primary doctor and $100 for specialists and the drug co pays are going up by $20 for each.
Something about the silver plan cost sharing falls under sequester.

But by then I will be long gone from obamacare.

The healthcare rep told you that? Why doesn't PPCCA know that?

Because he bought the platinum, I showed him all the plans and he chose the best. He had no deductible at all.

So are the plans going up July1?

Of course. You still haven't caught on to the fact that the administration and their lead spokesman President Barack Hussein Obama knowingly LIED about every part of the boondoggle.

Young, healthy people are not signing up, low income, going straight to Medicaid, then the sick and those in poor health are signing up. None of which will help pay the toll for this massive failure.

The insurance companies will need a massive bailout and rates will have to drastically increase. Then again, Aetna is talking about dropping out of the exchanges to save their company which would cause ObamaCare to crash right there.

It has been set up all along for bailouts (risk corridor) in the law.

Aetna is a fly on a dog turd in this just like UHC. Doesn't matter whether they're in or out of exchange. In the past 10 years Aetna has gone in and out of markets for individual and group at their leisure as well as UHC. UHC has always made their money in the group and over 65 market. Yes, the number's on young and healthy are lagging.

Here is a thought for you: The national Blue Cross and Blue Shield association does sell a plan in certain markets and then there are the state BCBS's, everyone of them in the exchanges across the nation (fed and state exchange), so what if the back room deal was: When this fails and a single payer evolves that the only player is BCBS? Just a thought.

If they asked for your email and they put it on the subsidy application you would have received notice from healthcare.gov on your subsidy eligibility.

Did you give your's and your daughter's social? If not wouldn't even worry about this whole thing.

How did they get your name and phone number?

We do not call people out of the blue, only if they have inquired on the internet ,sent a reply card to insurance company requesting information or if they have called in and we are calling them back.

Of course I have called people who supposedly inquired on the internet but had signed up for information for something else and that company sold their name and phone number to an insurance company.

How did these people get your name and phone number? Did you go on the internet?

No one calls you selling insurance from ACA, no such insurance company.

ACA = Affordable Care Act

Daughter on Medicaid or Health Kids?

Aetna, Coventry and Blue Cross only three company's selling on exchange in Escambia county.

No possible way they could have told you an exact amount of subsidy unless you completed a subsidy application in which they would have had to take you through healthcare.gov and you electronically sign the application. That is you sign it not the agent.

You are being scammed. Get names and report them to OIR 1 800 342-2762

I hope you will call the number ppaca suggested, Cool. I strongly suspected you were being scammed, and ppaca's post above confirms my suspicions.

The only exception would be if you provided your name and telephone number to an insurance company online for a quote. Even then, no reputable insurance company will represent itself as "from the ACA." Is it possible the person said he or she was calling ABOUT the ACA? That would make a big difference, if indeed you did contact an insurance company online.

Did they give you a call-back number? If so, call and find out who they are. You may even want to notify the sheriff's department, depending on what you find.

I cannot stand to see anyone scammed. It happened to my mother once (that I know of.)

As Dreams wrote, you can try the healthcare.gov site yourself, since it works now. Good luck!  Smile

Seems like Aetna CEO has been smoking some crack or is related to Sybil:

This posted this morning

It seems that the Aetna CEO might be suffering from a similar affliction as that Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford.

Mark Bertolini said 3 days ago that he might remove AETNA from the Exchanges. Today, he says that the company is bullish on Healthcare Reform and plans to increase it's advertising budget 500% to bring in new customers.

Excerpt:
""As more consumers begin to shop for their own health insurance via private and government-run exchanges, Mr. Bertolini said insurers will have little choice but to raise their budgets significantly to reach them. He said that he hoped to increase Aetna's marketing spend by five times in the years ahead.
"We want to get the cost structure to where we can spend significantly more on consumer advertising, advertising is the game.""

Ref: Aetna CEO Predicts Surge in Marketing Spending Among Health Insurers - WSJ.com

If he's going to increase AETNA sales in our state, he'll need to increase the commission payout. For that matter, if any CEO wants to increase sales, simply provide additional incentives to agents. It's a no-brainer strategy that's worked well for many decades, across every industry.

Aetna-Coventry is in 10 state exchanges. Is that enough for them to stay on the government's good side? And, can a bad experience in 10 states do much damage to the success they're experiencing in Groups, Medicare, etc.?

After Bertolini took over, that's when they cut our commissions to an unheard-of low of 4% back in 2010. They advertised..didn't work. In 2013, commission was increased back to 10%. Advertising didn't generate the sales then, but he thinks it will work now? Yeah..right. Aetna premium here is sky high.

VA disability benefits are not taxable, therefore they do not count that income, here is an excerpt from a CMS (marketplace) put out before this started to show what income you do not claim:

Other: If you have other types of income, you should still list it in your application. You don’t need to tell us about child support, veteran’s payments, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Some income types aren’t taxable, and whether or not you get them won’t affect eligibility for help paying for health insurance. Here are some other types of income you don’t need to tell us about:
o Workers’ compensation or other damage awards for physical injury or sickness
o Gifts, inheritances, and loans
o Public assistance benefits from programs like TANF, SNAP, and WIC

You only report income that is on your 1040 and file taxes on, it was none of their business and no where on the application does it ask for it. There is only one reason they would ask you to send w-2's and that is to verify something that did not jive with your 2012 tax return.

Look at the other plans on the exchange w/ lower out of pocket costs. You'll have to pay a higher monthly payment but it may be worth it. I have a $500 deductible and $5 Dr. visit copay.
