One would think that the GOP-controlled legislature in Florida would listen to the people, who overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment in 2010, aimed at preventing those in power from creating districts favoring candidates in their party.... They didn't listen, and are now being sued by various voting inteests.
Previously, legislators were protected from having to testify in court about their activities. However, the Florida Supreme Court feels this issue has been run so roughshod by GOP lawmakers, who clearly intended to ignore the new law, that the Florida Supreme Court has decided they must give testimony concerning why and how they created new districts in 2012.
Why can't Republican lawmakers simply learn that honesty is the best policy?
