Of course he did!   I am not happy with many issues that Obama refuses to answer about, but in this case he should have told the media that he will not discuss details of who we spy on or how we do it.   Because to say he didn't know about the spying either makes him a liar or incompetent.  And Snowden needs to be brought to justice!

WASHINGTON -- The White House and State Department signed off on surveillance targeting phone conversations of friendly foreign leaders, current and former U.S. intelligence officials said Monday, pushing back against assertions that President Obama and his aides were unaware of the high-level eavesdropping.
Professional staff members at the National Security Agency and other U.S. intelligence agencies are angry, these officials say, believing the president has cast them adrift as he tries to distance himself from the disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that have strained ties with close allies.
The resistance emerged as the White House said it would curtail foreign intelligence collection in some cases and two senior U.S. senators called for investigations of the practice......

Our technical capabilities to gather this type of information is over twenty years old. The President does not micro manage every agency, nor would that be a good use of his time. Of course this makes sense to people who have never managed other people, or had administrative experience.

The President most certainly should lie when talking about our capabilities with other nations. Absent a written treaty concerning spying between two nations, we want our folks doing their job, and keeping damn quiet about our capabilities.

The spying on allies goes all the way back to us checking out the British when they were our ally in WWII to the present. Anybody who lacks a complete understanding of history, or what we have been doing long before the president was in the oval office, of course will buy into this nonsense.

I disagree.  I think he should tell the media that he won't discuss it. Period. To say that he didn't know about it makes the NSA look like a rogue organization and it makes our president look weak and not in control.

Of course we spy on our allies and everyone else.  We've been doing it for decades. And they spy on us too.  I hope our spying is better than their spying.

Snowden should be brought to justice.  This crap he's done continues to hurt the USA.
