Woman Charged After Toddler Found Wandering Street

January 3, 2013

An Escambia County woman was arrested early Thursday morning after leaving her three young children at home alone.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of Prichard Avenue in Ensley just after midnight after callers reported a small child running down the street wearing only a shirt and diaper.

Deputies were able to determine where the 2-year old lived, and they discovered two other children, ages 4 and 6, inside and unattended.

About an hour later, the mother of the children, identified as Amanda Lynette Wiggins, returned home. She told deputies that she had left home just prior to the babysitter, known to Wiggins only as Christie, arriving. Deputies were unable to verify Wiggins’ story. Yeah right!

Wiggins was charged with three counts of child neglect and jailed without bond.

The children were no injured. The Department of Children and Families was called and made arrangements for the children.

What was that Daisy was saying about her neighbor leaving kids alone?

I bet they will have either court appointed or ACLU lawyers defending them and the stinking judge will let them go with a slap on the hand.. The lawyers will also be suing the police department and PNJ for releasing the names of the minors that were arrested.. IF the ages are wrong in the PNJ, I wonder how long it will take to correct them..

Charge them with a hate crime.

Nothing says the color of the man they attacked.. They should at least be charged with attacking a senior/elderly person and prosecuted to the max allowed by law..

A Pensacola man is in the hospital and a robbery suspect is facing attempted murder charges after both men were shot during a robbery in Pensacola on Sunday, according to the Pensacola Police Department.

Kwamane Silas, 24, was reportedly one of two men who approached a 37-year-old male who was walking near North Sixth Avenue and Leonard Street around 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, a PPD press release said.

The unknown robber reportedly shot at the victim. The bullet then passed through the victim and hit Silas in the thigh, according to the release. Silas and the other suspect fled the scene, and police found the victim lying in the street. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

Later that evening, Silas was taken into custody after going to a local hospital for treatment, the release said. He has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is being held in Escambia County Jail on $115,000 bond.

Police are still seeking the second suspect.

Anyone with information about his identity or location is asked to call Detective Jeff Brown at 435-1980 or the Pensacola Police Department at 435-1900.

There's that common phrase: "possession of a weapon by a convicted felon."

How do we fix that? Do we cut off every males penis because there are rapes? How can you fix a criminal or crazy by restricting the rights of already law abiding citizens? Who here if their family is confronted by a criminal w a gun in their home would prefer not to have a gun? Gawd we're sissified.
