So, if this is official, will he still make the trip, I wonder? He was invited by the queen, after all, and, sadly enough, she hasn't rescinded her invitation.

This is completely reasonable. The speaker apparently has the option of issuing an invitation or not. Why would they want someone so divorced from reality to waste their time? As one of the members of parliament stated: "Well done!"
