Contractor says Trump refusing to pay for work at DC hotel

WASHINGTON (AP) — An electrical subcontractor who worked on the Trump International Hotel in Washington has sued a company owned by President Donald Trump for more than $2 million, alleging it was not fully paid.
AES Electrical filed its lawsuit in the District of Columbia Superior Court, the latest in a string of lawsuits involving Trump's renovation of the historic Old Post Office building a few blocks from the White House.
AES, a California company doing business locally under the name Freestate Electrical Construction Co., alleged that it bore increased expenses last year because of change orders and other demands from Trump's staff. AES said it was told to accelerate the pace of work so that the then-Republican presidential candidate could hold a televised media event to celebrate the "soft opening" of the luxury hotel prior to the November election.

I have seen small business people lose everything to wealthy individuals who enter into an unequal power struggle, and they literally get used to crushing small contractors and stealing their material and labor. It disgusted me locally for 35 years, and I had a friend who is a civil engineer who worked on a building to display classic cars for a very wealthy man in illinois, and he only paid the company 50 cents on the dollar. The company went belly up, and my friend had to find new employment. He tried to do the same thing with a blacktop company again only wanting to pay about 70 cents on the dollar, but the difference was the company would litigate in a second. They did. They won, and the guy went on to put other people out of business, but the blacktop folks got all their money plus attorney fees because they had resources. The guy is worth a billion. So it is not only Donald Trump. Cheaters abound.
