Who would have thought a drill team in North Dakota who came up with a better rubber stopper would revolutionize fracking and horizontal drilling and virtually make America energy independent for the next thirty years. I guess gas prices will remain low, and I certainly hope we do not repeat mistakes in the past with CAFE fuel efficiency standards and we continue to make more efficient vehicles.

It is in the Wolfcamp Shale, in the Permian Basin in west Texas. I have been reading about this source for perhaps 4 years or more. The Wolfcamp formation is but one shale formation in the Permian Basin, which has about 6 different shale formations stacked one on top of the other. An estimated 100 billion barrels of oil are thought to be recoverable within all of these formations.

What this means is that is that there might be less drive for our politicians to want to meddle in/make war in provocative and unstable regions of the world where other peoples' oil lays.

It also means we have a bridge-supply to power us while we continue to move toward solar-electric power as our primary energy source, which will definitely occur over the next 60 years or so. The technology for this is maturing and becoming more cost-effective, and this genie is out of the bottle and will not be stuffed back in--not even by the pro-petroleum and coal Trump Administration. What to look forward to in this arena--by the end of the 2030s, Japan hopes to orbit space borne solar collectors that beam electricity back to Earth for our collection and use. That is just one future initiative--there will be many more.

Reducing CAFE standards increases fatalities. One way to increase mileage is to reduce the weight which makes the car more dangerous.

This discovery of over $90 BILLION in oil must depress the greenies almost as much as Hillary losing!

Cafe standards between 1980 and 2005 dropped petroleum use while vehicle deaths dropped by almost 16%, and per capita deaths dropped by over 30%. Yes, we can build fuel efficient and safe cars. For somebody who claims to have raced, you know nothing about how lightweight and safe race cars have become as you think weight equals safety......confused as usual.
