Election results prove no one cares.

"No one cares" is not a true statement.  What is true is that we will never, ever in a million years see his tax returns unless someone hacks and leaks them.  But the Russians aren't going to do that to their fair haired boy, or they already would have.  So, again, Boards, you can forget it.

I don't think it was anything so glamorous.

It would appear that it was a massive flood of uneducated, rural white folks, who have been programed for decades to distrust all of the institutions that support our democratic process.

It is shocking that they could be so easily mobilized by a hate-spewing, authoritarian demagogue.

Stock market tripled.  Unemployment was cut in half.  Nearly 12 million private sector jobs were added to the economy.  Our annual budget deficit was slashed by $1 trillion, with a T.   The Bush wars ended.  Bin laden was brought to justice.  Healthcare was expanded to 20 million and we reached the lowest % of uninsured Americans on record.

I don't know.  I think the liberalism thing was working quite well.  Particularly in contrast to the last two republican presidents.

But not everyone pays attention or learns from history, so here we go again.  Let's see if republicans can do a good job this time.  Cough cough.

Thank goodness, Boards, for your continued touting of the substantial improvements in our country since 2008. Too bad liberal talk shows, with good news like this, don't sell. What a difference it would make if everyone on the air were selling good news and optimism, not negativism and hate.

"Shocking" is the only word for it.

Hooray for freedumbz!

At long last, the shackles have been removed and Americans can get back to dying of preventable illnesses, going bankrupt when a family member gets sick, and denial of care for preexisting conditions just like the Founders intended.

Most people die from bad habits. How do you propose fixing that?

What is so very sad here is the close minded.

We have a chance for better, embrace it, criticize it, but live it.

Then, only then, condemn it.

Just got home and catching up.

Pkr who knows why they didn't crash Mexico's website I was just reporting what was on the news.

Drug prices cannot be negotiated, Medicare of 2003

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2012/sep/04/tammy-baldwin/uncle-sam-barred-bargaining-medicare-drug-prices-s/

No Trump cannot undo the above without congressional approval.

If you wanted real change then you all would not have voted straight party and voted some of the people in congress out and not vote for Gaetz who is already well entrenched into the system. Regardless of who the President is if you did not do your research and kick the bastard's out of congress and senate not much will change.  You all need to remember Trump was a democrat before a republican and has already back tracked in the past couple of weeks on what has gotten him there. We shall see but without a change in senate and congress it's still screwed.

The stock market came back after Trump's toned down speech.

Good post. I did research our locals and talked with my daughter who has more info than I. No straight party line here, only what I felt best for all of us. Who really knows?

You bought the message heart and soul. The strategy was to drown out Hillary's obvious flaws.

You were the target audience comrade... lol.

He came out of the gate with the claim that Mexicans are rapists and criminals and a plan to ban Muslims from entering the United States.

That was his message, and unfortunately it was a winning message for too many voters panicked by their loss of white privilege.

No, I don't think it was about the loss of "white privilege" as you say.

He was speaking to the criminal element... of which there is plenty. Just as he speaks to extreme vetting and a caution to not import radicalized muslims. I don't like Trump... I don't believe he will do as he says. But demagoguery is another animal... a construct for the useful idiots. Don't bother looking around.

Give it a rest.

Trump ran almost entirely on dog whistle politics, and the dogs responded.

What we saw Tuesday night was probably the greatest display of white privilege the planet has ever witnessed, where the demographic least affected by the policies proposed by a xenophobic, bigoted, demagogue came out in droves to vote for him out of perceived self-interest.

All the exit polling bears this out, but you continue to want to play dumb.

Let me remind everyone right now, Trump said whatever he thought might bring him some advantage during the campaign. Historically, his track record suggests he never made a promise he meant to keep. He says what he thinks is most advantageous at the moment.

What he's actually going to do about illegal immigration is UNKNOWN. This is the same guy who says global warming is a hoax, but who is attempting to get approval to build a seawall offshore from his Irish golf course because of projected rising ocean level at that location.

Anyone stupid enough to believe anything he's said thus far is truly naive.

Wordslinger wrote:Whether you're a Bernie Progressive or a Trump conservative, none of us has any real idea what's going to happen now that Trump is president.

In fact, none of us really knows Trump.  The Trump who admired Hillary before he hated her.  The Trump who was for a woman's right to choose before he was against it.  The Trump who was for the Iraq war before he turned against it.

The facts indicate that although he ran on the republican ticket, Trump is heart and soul a democrat.  Any of you republicans who think he's going to be a strong conservative are as naive as those of us who thought Hillary would win.
And before you celebrate that he and the republicans own both houses of congress, remember this:  90% of the republicans in the house or senate are establishment republicans -- most of whom did not vote nor support Trump.  Indeed, from a political standpoint, Trump is as much a threat to them as he is to the democrats of the congress.

Any republican stupid enough to reject a Trump proposal for legislation will be decimated.  For sure.

George Washington started his presidency morally bankrupt -- from the start he was for the power of the wealthy to run the country -- but once he was in he dedicated himself to solving problems.  Maybe Trump will do the same.

What I hope is that Trump refuses to surround himself with losers as advisors.  We don't need incapable generals dictating how to improve the military -- their track record of lost wars that never end speaks for itself.

And we don't need a healthcare system that leaves millions of Americans without care.

Trump's a businessman.  The run for the presidency required salesmanship.  He said whatever he needed to say to win.

As a business leader, once you've sold your product your next step is to deliver and keep your customer happy.  If you fail, you lose any chance of repeat sales.  And you go bankrupt.

Fasten your seat belts.  It will be a bumpy ride.

Why don't you do Bernie Sanders the courtesy of referring to him as he does himself, a SOCIALIST. That's way past Progressive.
