The last person who should say anything at all...drummed out...fined...should have received dishonorable discharge.

Well, you didn't serve on the Article 32 hearing and it's not ever or will never be your purvey to judge an officer who has been in combat. Like many felons that you liberals support, to include William Jefferson Clinton, he was given a punishment and accepted it so let it go. He has paid his dues to society. NJP isn't even a felony type of criminal action, unlike acts that earn a person a Dishonorable Discharge or Bad Conduct Discharge.

And like the liberal media, you ignore the facts in the article that show three Black Republicans on track to win their elections/offices in the next few weeks. Must really burn your britches to see that.

Sooo, ... the Colorado state Vice Chairman of the GOP is complaining that the "liberal press" in general and the Denver Post in particular is not covering two candidates who are losing badly ... and, one of which - Darryl Glenn - is a certifiable lunatic and has blacklisted said Denver Post.

Good find, PeeDawg!

Hahahahahahahahaha ....

Get real. This motherfucker's actions destroyed his military career. Only a fellow sleazeball would grant this torturer/coward any credibility at all.

My FIL was a Commander, a test pilot, a carrier pilot, and would have been a Blue Angel if his wife hadn't put her foot down because she was tired of raising 3 boys by herself. I grew up in a Navy town which had a navy training base. I knew many of my FIL's best friends, including people that I worked with here in Pensacola. Don't tell me I don't understand the military. And don't tell me Allen West shouldn't have lost his pension and/or served time for his lapse of judgement. I loved my FIL...he was like John McCain, except he didn't crash a bunch of planes. He had little to say. He was a brave man, unlike your cardboard cutout hero, Allen West, who, BTW, is not an elected representative of anything and won't be, because he's frickin' nuts.

Alan West is a book worm wannabee tough guy who cowardly tortured someone and got thrown out of the military because his behavior was unacceptable. It is curious how concerned Pace is for black folks, and how drawn he is to this sadist. Very interesting. A tell in poker terms.........but Hillary and Bill blow the dog whistle and Alan West talks for black folks......Alan West the book worm knew he could make a buck playing the role of a tough ex military guy to conservatives by rejecting the call for equality and fairness.....problem is he was booted out because he was a cowardly sadist who was already learning his trade as a worm, and no sane person buys what he is selling.

Sadly, he's everywhere I look lately. I also don't understand why he's popular. He doesn't even hold office. He rode the Tea Party wave and was voted out...found his new calling as a troll...it's fitting.

He's the leader of the African-American, neo-conservative movement.

All three of them.

One other thing, Seaoat, and then I promise to get off my soapbox...OK, no I don't. The thing that I think unites these "flyboys" is their love of flying. That's what people cheer when they watch the Blue Angels. I've been watching them since I could crawl. They are not a waste of money; they're an example.

A child in Syria may have a different perspective than a child being taught to honor implements of war........a not too subtle difference.

Get back to the Dog Whistle Clinton thread.

Liberals see racism where there is none, fabricate it when they can't find it, and IGNORE it within their own ranks (especially here).

I happen to be the grandmother of two wonderful kids who are mixed race. You have no clue, as usual. The thought of you teaching kids makes me cringe. I hope you never come near my grandkids. They don't need your brand of education.

You want to honor a torturer/coward who now pretends to be a war hero, be my guest asshole. As for his VA benefits and pension, we all know how our government, particularly the DOD. likes to waste money.

In the midst of war, and at the time we were still engaged in fighting in Iraq, West did what he had to do to protect his soldiers. That's what a commander or any man/woman in uniform does. They are not there with the flag in mind or the cause of war - only keeping their men and women alive in the midst of war.

I'd love to see Wordslinger or Seaoat as a commander. Talk about wussies.

War is hell. He saved the lives of his soldiers.

Now, I would not vote him into office nor do I feel he is a voice for Florida. But in that situation he saved lives.

Life is different in the midst of war. Context must be considered. Hindsight is 20/20.

By law was he right? Hell no. But in real life, concerned for loss of life, yes he did the right thing.

Two edged sword - live by the law or save lives.

Lie....... and an apologist for the horror of a completely unnecessary war. I find it hilarious that a wussy somehow is transformed into a tough guy by not getting good grades or excelling at anything and with no options joins the military. This illusion that the 1% of Americans who spent any time in the military are somehow more heroic than the other 99% is the big lie. One out of a hundred in the Military ever see combat. So out of a thousand Americans one American sees combat, and the illusion that they are any more heroic than the commercial fisherman, logger, or cop is hilarious.

West was charged in an incident that involved the beating and simulated execution of an Iraqi policeman. After an Article 32 hearing was held, West accepted non-judicial punishment, was fined $5,000, and allowed to retire as a lieutenant colonel.

West was a coward, and remains one. His discharge was the result of his cowardly acts.

I happened to have dated interracially a long time before your grandchildren were ever born (1980-1986). I have had my car vandalized as a teenager, my life threatened, called a _________ etc. I ran varsity track from the 9th grade on at a local school and when we moved to Va Beach in the middle of the 10th grade. I would say a majority of my friends were not Caucasian. You are picking a fight that is not needed and giving an example I have already lived. These events happened in the progressive city of Virginia Beach during the years written about.

Says the man who cannot find Iraq on a map and ran off from service when he could have joined and sacrificed like the man who he points his racist finger at.

Let me see if I have this correct......I did have career options which involved hard work and NO government teat. I had a high draft number of 305, and you think a sane person would volunteer to kill innocent people in Indochina because of colonialism for a short term check and a sense that this would somehow make me a man.........geez, you had no options, you joined, and now you think that process made you a man.......earth to Pace.....in the real world garbage in and garbage out is still the rule, and I would concede that some small percentage of folks actually have a positive change in their situation, but the reality is that putting on a uniform does not make one batman.........sorry, you are basically the same person who enlisted with no options, and West is the same piece of chit who was booted out because of his cowardly acts......reality is simple, but the illusions you build are simply out there.

Says the unqualified but self-described Internet Superhero. if you did even half the things you claim on here you would have to be at least 150 years old.

The fact is people join the military for as many reasons as there are service members. Both the Enlisted and Officer Corps are better educated than most other Americans. When you call all military folks dumb potato peelers you just put your total bigotry on public display. Not to mention your total lack of knowledge about the military as a whole.

It's doubtful you would find a military member describing themselves as a hero for simply wearing a uniform. It's a good thing you never joined - there is no place in the military for a self-absorbed fantasy land type like you. You would inevitably get someone killed.

While serving in Taji, Iraq, West received information from an intelligence specialist about a plot to ambush his unit. The alleged plot involved Yahya Jhodri Hamoodi, an Iraqi police officer. West had his men detain Hamoodi.[18] Soldiers testified that in the process of detaining Hamoodi, he appeared to reach for his weapon and needed to be subdued.[18] Hamoodi was beaten by four soldiers from the 2/20th Field Artillery Battalion on the head and body.[19] West then fired his pistol near Hamoodi's head,[18] after which Hamoodi provided West with names and information, which Hamoodi later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain."[18] At least one of these suspects was arrested as a result, but no plans for attacks or weapons were found.[18] West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi."[18]

West was charged with violating Articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers."[19] The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000.[18] West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits as a lieutenant colonel in the summer of 2004. Asked if he would act differently under similar circumstances, West testified, "If it's about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."[19] At his hearing, West said that there were no ambushes against American forces in Taji until he was relieved of his leadership post a month later.[19]

I do not call ALL enlistees dumb potato peelers. One of my three best friends dreamed of going to Annapolis and went to a private military high school, was an A student, a good athlete, and he had hundreds of options when he chose the Navy. He put in his twenty years and got a great position at Dial corporation. My best friends brother also Annapolis and became a commander as his specialty was nuclear, and he went into the private sector and excelled. I had twin friends who dreamed of being Coast Guard officers and they reached their goal.

Now the reality. The kid who was drinking in school at 14, had failing grades, and was always trying to get attention.....he enlisted.....got out and could not hold a job. Out of my class of 750, not counting the officers who went to service academy..........we probably had ten people join the military in 1970, and almost to the last one they were kids with NO options, and struggled. I remember Gary who in fourth grade my teacher had me go out in the hall and spend an hour a day teaching him how to tell time. A quiet kid who just struggled in everything. I saw him at our 35th reunion, and had an enjoyable conversation where he had a family and had retired from the navy after 30 years......he had no batman uniform.....he was never a tough guy going in and he certainly was not a tough guy leaving, and he optimized his options and lived a good life.

I am very vocal about the illusion. Like men are created only when America has a 10 to 1 advantage, and is displaying courage when occupying nations which have done NOTHING to America. Men are created in many ways, but this pretend fantasy world of militarism as an automatic just has never melded with the reality I have lived......some tough people join the military, and some do not.......some wussies join the military and some do not.

The best part....the tough guys I know who were military.....never mention their service.....NEVER........because they are not wussies with something to prove.
