Hillary Blasts For-Profit Colleges, But Bill Took Millions From One

But Trump isn't the only one who has profited. Over five years, former president Bill Clinton earned $17.6 million from the world's largest for-profit education company, Laureate Education, Inc. In his role as "honorary chancellor," Clinton has traveled the world on Laureate's behalf, extolling the virtues of the school.

And some two dozen former and current students at Laureate's flagship school in the U.S. — an online, for-profit school called Walden University — told NBC News they feel victimized by the kind of practices Clinton has promised to fight.
A 2015 study found Walden students had compiled the second-highest debt load of any school in the U.S.

Absolute legitimate criticism of Bill Clinton. The for profit schools are a cancerous growth on America, and those who prostitute their reputation to give these diploma mills legitimacy have sold their soul to the devil. Kids are facing a lifetime of debt and no discharge in bankruptcy and no marketable skills to find employment.

Thankfully Hillary is correct in attacking these institutions.

The cost of college is deliberately tied to the easy qualifications and cash coming from the central govt. Leftists are so concerned with what ceo's make or what employees are paid... but these institutions soak in tax dollars and the young are left on the hook... as usual. In the end it's just another bubble.

Btw... here again we have a system set up by the govt... and the leftists begging for a govt solution to fix it.

Round and round and round we go.

It is a huge bubble, the money borrowed by students and who are now delinquent. It will be the next bubble to break.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that more than 40 percent of student-loan borrowers aren’t making payments:

While most have since left school and joined the workforce, 43% of the roughly 22 million Americans with federal student loans weren’t making payments as of Jan. 1, according to a quarterly snapshot of the Education Department’s $1.2 trillion student-loan portfolio.

About 1 in 6 borrowers, or 3.6 million, were in default on $56 billion in student debt, meaning they had gone at least a year without making a payment. Three million more owing roughly $66 billion were at least a month behind.

Meantime, another three million owing almost $110 billion were in “forbearance” or “deferment,” meaning they had received permission to temporarily halt payments due to a financial emergency, such as unemployment. The figures exclude borrowers still in school and those with government-guaranteed private loans.

The situation improved slightly from a year earlier, when the nonpayment rate was 46%, but that progress largely reflected a surge in those entering a program for distressed borrowers to lower their payments. Enrollment in those plans, which slash monthly bills by tying them to a small percentage of a borrower’s income, jumped 48% over the year to 4.6 million borrowers as of Jan. 1.
