Price for MRI of knee ranges from $400 to $4,544

BOSTON – A survey of 54 hospitals in six metropolitan areas across the United States reveals that consumers seeking a price estimate for a routine medical procedure face a difficult and frustrating task, despite price transparency provisions in the Affordable Care Act and five of the six states, according to a new Pioneer Institute Policy Brief.

Each insurance company has a department similar to "Know before you go" and if that hospital and doctor is contracted with that particular insurance company you can call them and they will give you an estimate, if not you are on your own.

On another note and you'll love seeing this although it doesn't pertain to you right now, is Highmark BC April 1 is cutting payments to doctor's in their network by 4.5%. They had a $500 million loss last year.

I think you're going to see more of this in 2016 and beginning of 17.
