The North Korean elites got into this performance, which was replete with propaganda videos playing in the background. Apparently this band is Kim Jong Un's creation, and the members are in the North Korean Army.
Un recently sent them to China to perform for Chinese officials, and they traveled to Beijing dressed in NK Army uniforms. During transit, NK announced they could explode an H-bomb, which pissed off the Chinese to no end. The Chinese decided to snub the band's performance by sending only low-level officials to watch their performance. Kim Jong Un decided to up the ante on snubbing by ordering the band home without playing, and then conducting an H-bomb test without announcing it to the Chinese in advance.
Apparently, the Chinese view Kim Jong Un as a loose canon, and he hates the Chinese as well.
