Just wow... it's scary how much has to be ignored to believe this. Minh's brutality backed by china created the issue. The "communist threat" existed before and continued after. Trying to romanticize it doesn't erase innocents slaughtered for a barbaric ideology. The truth is graphic and can't be transformed into simply a leftist evil american imperialism talkingpoint.

The war in Vietnam laid waste to Indochina and left 58,000 Americans dead. The country went communist anyway. We should have minded our own business. Just like we should have left well enough alone in Iraq.

I'm not saying... and never have said... that it was the correct step.

That doesn't however give free license to revise/ignore the facts or the context.
