However, as of last Monday, only 29 IDs were issued from the mobile units this year and four from the state capitol, according to the secretary of state's office.

The program is working exactly as it was designed to work.

Or people are so apathetic about voting.....

Or they already have cards.....

Or they have drivers licenses......

Or they are waiting until next year.....

Or......

I do not think gator is thinking or he is running away from this issue.....five million voters......29 ids issued. Now was the Alabama State representative who said this on national TV wrong? I do not know, but assuming that is correct, you are telling me about how easy this is when the woman was saying these offices are located in the courthouses and the actual offices are only open part time..........29 ids out five million people and you think this is about folks being smart enough to get these ids which are free.......please come to the Dog track and play some poker when I am in town and play those duces with confidence.......idiotic discussion. The intent is clear. The results are 29 free voter ids issued.

I have trouble tying my gator shoes with a hook.

I kind of think you have trouble getting yourself dressed period, hook or no hook. You quoted some numbers but obviously don't know the truth of the matter.

It's an estimated 250K voters without acceptable ID - not 5M as you insinuate.

You quote 29 ID's but fail to note that does not include all other registrations, the total number is 1,442 - still low but you can't make people register - although in your socialist utopia that is precisely what would happen.

Civil rights activists argue people are "discouraged by the felony warnings on the top of the voter ID application." Why?

There - have another bone to chase.

not 5M as you insinuate.

I did not insinuate anything.  That is the population of the state of Alabama......it does not assume anything, and it does not reach any conclusion......it is simple......29 folks have gotten voter ids which are free from part time offices in the courthouses throughout the state as reported by an Al state rep on tv this morning after Morning Joe.   Next time I will go to Google translate and put my post into the translator and ask it to print the same in Dumbasz.   I will copy and paste dumbasz so you can comprehend it.

Alabama does not want minority voters at the polls.......you can deny it happened in the past.....you can change the subject now and have people go on snipe hunts with you, but fortunately most people on this form do not speak your language and would not waste their time trying to translate your smoke and mirror excuses for something which is crystal clear.....

But those four large cities are where the concentration of minorities are the highest... right? Next red herring please.

Yep, another snipe hunt. Joe the plumber, who was never a plumber, and civil rights activists.....plural........yep......you must think people are stupid.....I understand that out of four million voters in Iowa who were audited by a Republican AG who ran on the platform that he was going to prosecute voter fraud and out of four million he was able to charge eight Iowans, and the majority of those were felons......so this whole voter ID requirement has the same odds as somebody in the United States getting struck by lightening....about 1 in a million.........so please give us some more snipe hunts and work hard at denying the reality.....this is all about making blockades to citizens rights to vote.....nothing ambiguous.....nothing uncertain.....but a word of advice.....never go outside again.....you may be struck by lightening......maybe we should pass a law that people are not allowed outside again because they may get struck by lightening.....idiotic on the face of it......with or without the google translator.

Are you really that gullible? Apparently. BTW I am just presenting facts, something you have failed to do. You keep pulling "29" out of your ass when that number only includes mobile registration. You ignore facts when they don't align with your stars. Amazing. Try to read the article I linked and wake up or continue spouting garbage. It really doesn't matter to me - I don't live in Alabama anyway.

You have Republican officials openly admitting that the intent of voter ID laws is to suppress the minority and youth votes, ...

... but, gator is convinced that it's all because of lazy ni**ers.

GOP 2016!!

Who needs a red herring. You have as much chance of finding voter ID fraud as getting struck by lightening, and when the state which had literacy tests and poll taxes, passes a law requiring an ID to vote.....and Republicans have declared their strategy to make it harder for minority voters to pull ballots...you rocket scientist may not get it.....but the rest of us do.

So what? If that's all it takes to cause someone to whine about not voting then I have no sympathy. I can remember being at sea and not getting promised absentee ballots during Clintons presidency. Trying to block the military vote? Who knows.

I don't agree with what the GOP does and your childish reference to same just proves you, like 2SO, are incapable of factual discussion. You must love the GOP since you use that GOP 2016 BS frequently. Personally I kind of hope Biden runs, at least he is not afraid of speaking his mind.

Factual discussion.....You have to be kidding. There is a one in a million chance of voter fraud, with the person committing the same in some states facing a felony and you totally ignore that statistics or facts......that there is no problem.....instead of talking the facts, you give this narrative of heck.....just because there is no problem.....and we are putting a few obstacles between the citizens' constitutional right to vote and getting a ballot.....whats the big deal....smart people can get over the obstacle.....How about a factual discussion....how about addressing the one in a million fact. See where that goes....no politics.....no agenda.....just hard core facts and probability which you claim you are a rational and pragmatic guy....yet, you run from the facts.....so please tell me why we are creating bureaucratic big government solutions where there is no problem, yet when we talk about doing the same thing with background checks which are less intrusive than creating more red tape with voter ids, we are talking about According to the Economist’s chart, your chances of dying as a result of “assault by firearm” is about 1 in 25,000 in America or forty times more likely than a person voting wrongfully......and the difference....eight votes in an entire state mean NOTHING.....but 320 dead people and the impact on those families mean everything.....so please Mr. Gator tell me with pragmatism and facts why it is important to create red tape for a non problem, and fight red tape for a real problem?

Hate to break the news to you Rube but this thread is about access and not fraud. Not even about why the voter rules are what they are or their faulty pretenses. It's about MV offices closing etc. I haven't mentioned voter fraud since it's statistically nonexistent. You are the one who keeps beating that dead horse. Now there's another fact you can ignore. Try and stay focused.

Who is the rube. The title is the closings impact blacks. 75% impact on blacks. So let me help you with history. Literacy tests were to limit the access of black voters in the South. It worked. Poll taxes were to limit the access of black voters in the South. It worked. Voter ID laws across America have been shown by clear science and studies to adversely impact young, senior, and minority voters who usually vote democratic. It has worked.......in 2014 and it will work in 2016 if the Justice Department and the courts do not stop this trend. So the question of the underlying reason for these laws will be critical to the legal challenges which are coming, and were talked about by the Alabama State Rep on tv this morning after morning Joe. Important in the Supreme Court's new test for the Justice Department to meet their standard of proof will be the likelihood of fraud and the legitimacy of these ID laws.....they are being stricken all over the country.....fact....there is no debate about the discriminatory purpose of these laws......you want to make it about a debate that the obstacles are not that high........quit whining because we are making it more difficult to vote.....sorry the Supreme Court will look at the facts, and they will as they have in Wisconsin and Texas leave the Rubes scratching their heads.
