Tried to explain this to a certain forum member for years, but he denies reality, and chooses to cut and paste the irrelevant.

With no more elections to worry about for himself or fellow democrats he is acting more like a liberated liberal than just an office holder. It is good to see that he is now free to exercise his own ideas and policies without so many political encumbrances. Whether it is the result of lower gas prices (which he had nothing to do with) or the thaw in Cuban relations or no more ebola cases in this country it is hard to say just what moves the numbers.

One thing is nice though, when his actions fit more closely with what we thought we were getting in '08 his numbers have gone up. People like liberal policies and programs like social security and medicare even if those things get labeled by the right as socialistic. That's what they are and people like them. They just don't like the label!

Like he is saying, this is his fourth quarter. I hope for some successful hail Mary moves!

“The America of my time line is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories. A perfect democracy, a ‘warm body’ democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction. It depends solely on the wisdom and self-restraint of citizens… which is opposed by the folly and lack of self-restraint of other citizens. What is supposed to happen in a democracy is that each sovereign citizen will always vote in the public interest for the safety and welfare of all. But what does happen is that he votes his own self-interest as he sees it… which for the majority translates as ‘Bread and Circuses.’

‘Bread and Circuses’ is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader—the barbarians enter Rome.”

And Pace Dog was carping about Lois Lerner's lost emails just a couple of weeks ago.

Can't hang Benghazi on the President; can't hang the IRS doing its job on the President--where else will these wingnuts go in the next two years?

They are already carping about Cuba. Here is another LTE from today's PNJ:

No surprise

Why should the Cuba move surprise us? Barack Hussein Obama has been deliberately and systematically weakening the U.S. position in the world since his bowing-and-scraping apology tour.

Any bets on whether Obama will actually surpass Reagan at some point? What will the wingnuts say then?

Once again, some of semi-retired President Obama's poll numbers always go up...when he leaves town and is less likely to do further damage to the country.

"But how does Obama compare to other presidents who spent their sixth Christmas in the White House? Gallup polls showed President George W. Bush at 37 percent at this time in his presidency. Only Harry Truman (33 percent) was lower (for December 1950). Fellow Texan Lyndon B. Johnson was at 44 percent after his party suffered setbacks in the 1966 election. Ronald Reagan polled at 48 percent in December of 1986. The best in the survey include Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower (57 percent), despite his own party's struggle in the 1958 election, and Bill Clinton, who had a whopping 67 percent despite impeachment woes."

One remarkable difference between Obama's presidency and that of Reagan -- Obama spends most of his days awake.

Yep! How many sovereign nations has he bombed without Congressional approval now and how many thousands of innocents have died because of it? All so he could receive the Nobel Prize at the beginning of it all and not be held accountable for the trillions of tax dollars spent doing it..... Yep! Successful!

100k dead innocent Iraqis......how good is your math? Also, if there is a problem, why has there not been a Republican committee in congress formed to review how our security mechanisms in this country protect this country.......you want transparency......you really cannot handicap stupidity. I would be handing out golf strokes all day to make it fair, but the guy upstairs made it pretty difficult to fix stupid. The war on terror was not declared by President Obama. He apparently has not stopped the same, as he is withdrawing American troops from combat.......hmmm, a great many American mothers are happier, but if you think the war on terror should stop, I am all ears because contributing to MIC is bankrupting this country. So what would you do.

Hey!!!!! He has enough time left in office to bomb another two or three other sovereign nations at his current rate..... At least they might be telling us the count on that even though they don't want to admit how much money has been spent and how many innocents have been collateral damage in his Nobel campaigns.

So now you're saying that as commander-in-chief he doesn't control or stop the MIC and how they operate?

Seagoat isn't being honest anyway... the majority of the civilian iraqi casualties were from insurgent forces.

I'm not excusing those that we did kill... but I am able to be objective about the data.

2seaoat

objective about the data.

The war on terror was approved by congress under the Bush administration. It is very simple for both houses to pass legislation which takes all money from the war on terror. Please tell me we still live in a democracy, and next tell me how you will pass your bill. Objective about the data......that is funny. Dead women and children killed in bombing and artillary are somehow objectively reduced in value to a specific terrorist hit by a drone, while an entire nation was generally blown up with little or no connection to terrorists.....so your objective data problem is the variance of provision of one drone vs missing an entire nation being held responsible for non existent links to terrorism......nothing objective about your analysis.

ZVUGKTUBM

an entire nation was generally blown up with little or no connection to terrorists.....

Semi-retired poster Markle has a cut-and-paste that addresses this by listing all of the politicians who wanted to overthrow Saddam Hussein.

Well of course, he wouldn't want to get beaned by a stray golf ball.
