I would prefer the constitutional vision of a very limited or better said specific federal service and responsibilities.

Then I think a state should be able to try anything the people agree to... sink or swim.

There's a reason that the founding fathers chose a republic. Democracy is mob rule and the plebeians will vote themselves circuses. In a republic the patricians and plebeians are supposed to reach a compromise... The only damn king I want in this country is myself in my own home and even I have to defer to the queen on major decisions.
