Am I correct then to assume that you are also not a fan of Florida's Baker Act?

Seems to me that if this type of action saves at least 1 person from being slaughtered by someone who has possibly gone off the deep end, then it would be well worth it.

No sense in flying off the handle, I am just trying to start a good, honest discussion. Let's forget about whether or not he wants to kill someone, but if you believe someone to be mentally ill would you want to get help for this person? How about if it was your son or daughter?

I am just offering a differing view on the subject, there is not need to castigate me over it. Just because I do not see a conspiracy or a totalitarian government behind every tree does not mean that I am brain dead and have my head buried in the sand. Just the opposite, it means that I am open-minded and consider all views and base my opinions on that, unlike some who are so close-minded that they refuse to look at both sides of the coin.

I disagree. We have no earthly idea what words were exchanged between the Marine and the cops. He could have easily said something that led the cops to believe that he was unstable. Being of an unstable mental capacity is a hell of a lot more dangerous that someone's First Amendment Rights. The next mentally unstable person that is not committed for evaluation might be just the one that slaughters me, you or our loved ones. That is a risk that I am not willing to take for the sake of someone's 1st amendment right.

I'm gonna give you a serious answer to this. It all depends on how bad the totalitarianism is.

If I can still get my social security and medicare and the only totalitarianism I'm subjected to is not being able to speak the truth on the facebook that the luminotti blew up the WTC and fired a missile into the Pentagon, then I would prefer to go along with it and keep on living.

But if the totalitarianism gets to the point that the luminotti agents are rounding up me and the neighbors to put us in a fema concentration camp then I will probably prefer death over that and commit suicide to make death as painless as possible to avoid being tortured in the fema camps.
