I'm up to date... including costos glorifying putin. I feel sorry for the athletes being thrust into the reality of a socialist/communist compound reality. We're very insulated here and I think it affects the learned collectivist mentality. Stay tuned comrade.

Not yet comrade

What's the over/under on the first attack? That region is rife with a lot of terror activity. We hear little about it due to the censorship by Putin.

The real reflection here is the process and condensation that would allow putin to stage a totalitarian olympics.

Congratulations leftists... the results are irrelevant... as usual.

Huh?

Putin's opening ceremonies

Costas interview with the President looked like he just woke the president up from his friday afternoon nap........the president looked very sleepy.

So now you are a putin apologist... and those that apologize for totalitarian regimes...

I don't think we have much more ground to cover.

Either that or you have a thing for small egotistical men... more power to ya comrade.

I think your attention span explains a great deal....pay attention

No one hopes the games go on seamlessly than I do. I love sports. Do you think this will go well? & why?

I am a bad person to ask. I only believe in the summer olympics, and I limit it to track and field. The winter olympics is hollywood to me, where some non athletes or x game types can create something which has little to do with the competition and origins of the Olympics.......I watch it like I would watch some silly game show or reality show where they create an arbitrary competition. I am very old fashion.....track and field.

Rats... I pretty much agree on the nature of the contest.

Daughter competed in a world tournament in Portugal years ago. She fought her best fight ever......against the young lady from Greece. Her fight was filmed and later reviewed in the US. She was flawless. The Greek girl suffered a broken rib with daughter's first side kick in round one ......she was unable to use her right arm and right leg after her injury but the judges fixed the fight even though my daughter avoided right sided contact to prevent further injury to the girl. The judges were from Russia, Slovenia and Croatia. The Greek girl won by a large margin but she had to withdraw from the tournament after the fight.

My daughter was fine with it....she would have liked Gold but she knew what happened and she knew she had fought her best fights ever. I was livid as were her team coaches and US judges that saw her fight and the other fixed fights. I will add the groups from Germany and the Netherlands and Ireland were pissed. Daughter was given a jacket from each of those countries.

During the tournament in competetive matches not one US competetitor won a medal. Which was obviously wrong given the team members past events and the fact many have never lost. It was fixed politically. All US judges were sent to handle musical and individual forms.

It was fixed politically

That is why I am basically a track and field person.......nothing political about pole vault or 100 meters.

I like the winter olympics...I do not like synchronized swimming.

Do these opening ceremony groups look skimpy to you?

Do these opening ceremony groups look skimpy to you?

Yes, I guess curling has not caught on in Brazil.

I don't watch the opening ceremonies. Being Scandinavian, I enjoy the Winter Olympics. Like anyone else, some events more than others. I'm sorry the biathlon was dropped. Love the ski jumping, hockey, speed skating, cross country skiing, figure skating, almost all the events. Unlike some others here, I don't much care about who wins or loses. I watch for the pure beauty of the events and that these are athletes who are at the top of their sport and have practiced daily for years to reach that level.

I'm not as enthused about some of the X-Games that have transitioned to the Olympics but they are valid, new sports and the skill of the participants is incredible.

Given 2seaoat's attitude, and I understand his anger, I'm surprised he has a TV and computer.

I agree.....these Olympians have earned the right to compete.

No Anger.  I have always watched skeptical that most of the events in winter Olympics are really just a TV game show obstacle course with ice and snow, which started in an ice fishing hut where gunnar turned to nels after passing the vodka bottle on the ice and said, those damn Greeks started athletic competition, what about us....lets see who can get the vodka bottle closest to the other's chair........hey Gunnar lets add a game where we ski....stop....shoot a rabbit.....collect it...ski shoot a rabbit.....collect it.........I do not know Nels....what if we get to the top of the mountain?......lets see how fast we can ski down, but Gunnar what if there is a cliff........we can jump the cliff, and see how far we land, or we could sit on a sled and come down the mountain, and then put on skates and race around the ice fishing hut.....what should we call these games Gunnar?  White guys in an ice fishing hut passing the bottle?.......nah Nels....we will call this the winter olympics.

Shame on you for minimizing the hard work and dedication of the winter Olympians.

Shame on you for minimizing the hard work and dedication of the winter Olympians.

No doubt that the tv particpants who go on a reality show like survivor work very hard and are dedicated. I cannot even imagine the sacrifices of sitting in the second position of the sled, or the repeated stress on one's wrist as they curled. Oh the humanity. The winter olympics were invented out of thin air in the early 1900s and are nothing more than a variation of a modern tv show or x games, and in my opinion take away from the historic and universally accepted standards of athletic competition in track and field which the summer Olympics have sadly expanded into silly x game type of competition. I am a purist and believe track and field is the olympics, and next year we will have dungeons and dragons added to the competition.

Well, you certainly don't represent the majority and your opinion is yours. Speed skating, downhill races, ski jumps, snowboarding, figure skating and so on are part of the olympics and demand year round training and dedication.....unfortunate for you the winter competition is also the olympics. Again I think you are an arrogant prick to suggest their events are nothing more than silly little x games because they don't appeal to you.

Sit back and wait for your fat guy to take the field and throw his metal ball with his stubby little fingers while you watch his this cellulite jiggle.
