Romney was right.

Nekochan

Nekochan

He was right.  How is it that Romney knew more about what Obamacare would cause to happen than Obama knew?

"Had the president been truthful and told the American people that millions would lose their insurance and millions more would see their premiums skyrocket ... there would have been such a hue and cry against it, it would not have passed," Romney said.

Well, you know you'll be called a Nazi and a racist for posting that.  But the guy is black, so you've got that going for you.  lol.

Yawn.

Who cares?

The whole point of health care reform was to make medical care available to people who previously couldn't afford it or couldn't get it.

And, it's working where it's being implemented the way it was designed to be implemented ...

Notices went out Tuesday to more than 40,000 food-stamp recipients informing them that they have been automatically assigned to a private health-insurance plan under the state's expanded Medicaid program, the state Department of Human Services announced.

The automatic enrollments take the number of newly eligible people who have been added to the Medicaid program for coverage that will start Jan. 1 to 53,462.

That includes 49,151 who chose or were assigned to a private plan and 4,311 who were assigned to the traditional program because of they were deemed to have exceptional health needs...

...The expansion of the Medicaid program, authorized by the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and approved by the Legislature this year, extended eligibility for coverage to about 250,000 adults with incomes of up to 138 percent of the poverty level - $15,860 for an individual or $32,500 for a family of four. Most of those who enroll are expected to be able to sign up for a private plan on the state's health-insurance exchange and have their premium paid by Medicaid. About 10 percent - those identified as "medically frail" because of their health-care needs - will be assigned to the traditional Medicaid program.

The 40,405 who were assigned to a plan Tuesday are among 145,000 recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program who received letters from the department in September informing them that they are eligible for coverage under the expanded program.

Those who responded and said they wanted coverage were sent a notice giving them 12 days to visit a state website, insureark.org, where they would be asked to complete a questionnaire designed to identify the medically frail. Applicants who are not found to be medically frail can then use the website to sign up for a plan.

The automatic assignments affect 38,376 people who indicated that they wanted coverage but did not visit the website, as well as 2,029 who completed the questionnaire but failed to select a plan after it was determined they were not medically frail.

I really don't give a flying fuck if someone who can afford insurance has to switch plans at a slightly higher rate for modestly better coverage.

The important thing is that people who were being denied access or couldn't afford access are being helped.

Finally.

Meaningless, Sal.  Americans were lied to, either intentionally or because Obama didn't know what his plan said and none of his advisers told him.

There could have been reform without screwing over the millions who were satisfied with their insurance.

The post is the typical nazi rantings. However, let us talk about something substantive. When Romney said that 20 million would lose the insurance THEY want, it only makes me smile. Can you imagine if people could buy the liability car insurance THEY want. Our legislators almost a century ago mandated liability policies on drivers of vehicles because of the societal cost of uninsured drivers. The Heritage Foundation developed the core concept of the Affordable Care Act, and Romney implemented the same in Ma which mandates certain minimum policies. If 20 million Americans have inadequate insurance policies which does not protect taxpayers from uncovered medical costs, they need to migrate to the statutory minimums.

Now, I agree that the President should have said that about 3% of Americans were going to have policy migration because of flim flam policies, but in any legislative effort there are exceptions to a general rule, Was this deceptive, not really based on the percentages who are actually impacted, but a simple statement by the President that nonconforming policies would be migrated to minimum policy standards should have definitely been stated. I do not understand what the big deal is......we have as many as 30% of drivers in some States who are deadbeats who unless they are stopped for a traffic citation scam the system, and there will be large numbers of people who will decide not to get insurance, and will pay the fine. I could see me driving and show an officer an insurance card from Joe's quicky car insurance.....for $100 of liability coverage........and then having threads started how outrageous it is to force Joe's to be in compliance with the law......it really becomes comical. There is plenty to find fault in the bill but policy migration is not one of those areas.

No, quite meaningful, actually.

Eventually, people are going to open their eyes to the fact that reform is working pretty damn well in the states where it's being implemented as designed.

And, that will lead to the realization that it was Republican governors who sabotaged the plan.

What's quite meaningless, is you running around in circles screaming, "Liar, liar, pants on fire!!".

It's only meaningful if the people happy with Obamacare outnumber people who are unhappy.  Remember, Obamacare was supposedly intended for the 20% of Americans who needed reform.    Everyone else was told by Obama not to worry about all the Republican scare tactics because if they were happy with their insurance, nothing would happen.

Voters won't blame their governors for a program named OBAMAcare.

Knothead asked on the Politics forum whether Romney, when campaigning, had ever called Obama a liar about the millions of Americans who would lose their insurance.  That's why I looked  up what Romney said and posted it.

But you're right....it says it all.  You and many others believed Obama when it was Romney who was telling Americans what would happen.

So, because he lost the election, you refuse to accept the truths he told?

You are still believing what Obama told you to believe.  Why?  I am serious...why do you still believe him when he's already been so wrong?

93 Million Americans will be unable to keep their health plans.

93 million, if true, is a lot more than 3% or 20%.

Nekochan

Now before anyone blames Romney for not telling Americans that 93 million people would lose their insurance...I would guess that the Obama admin didn't send this particular memo to Romney.    Romney said 20 million, but it looks like it might be many more than that.

The 93 million would not include military families, medicare, or medicaid....that's a lot of people looking at losing their coverage and facing significant increases in premiums, deductibles, and decreased coverage.

Single-payer was "off the table" at the starting gate. This plan is essentially IDENTICAL to the "Romneycare" plan instituted in Massachusetts. Romney, of course, couldn't say so during the election, and neither can he now. Here's a juxtaposed comparison of what is vs. what might have been:
