Todays news journal is a prime example of what is wrong with Pensacola. A few days back a tragic and inexcusable accident happened at the county animal pound. There is an excellent story in todays paper about our interum county administrator George Touart going down to the pound and having a very heated meeting with the management. He demanded answers and accountability. As a result jobs were lost and changes have been made. Now I think about some other things that have happened in and around Pensacola the last couple of weeks. There have been several shootings, a few murders, an innocent victim shot and wounded by law enforcement officers and an innocent couple was raided by law enforcement and then traumatized by the wounding and killing of their pets right in front of them in their own house. I must have missed the meetings that the Mayor, County administrator, city board members and county commissioners had with our city chief of police and our county sheriff demanding answers and holding people accountable for why these crimes seem to be happening on the increase as of late. These officials talk about bringing businesses and people to Pensacola. I am sure that one of the top things these businesses and people look at is the safety of their employees and their families. I guess our elected leaders have their heads stuck in our beautiful white beach sands because Pensacola is not a very safe place right now.
