FoxNews had time lapse photography of the final process of up righting the ship.  I'm sure it's on the net someplace.  Perfectly level now.

From what I understand, they will now weld identical pontoons to the starboard side and then begin filling them with air to float the ship.  They're also going to go through the ship recovering valuables left behind by the passengers.

Then off to the scrapyard.

Best:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzugNOW_NQQ#t=68

I didn't realize how much damage had been done to the side underwater.

ah yes, I just watched the time lapse. awesome in deed. Smile

Ill be anxious to see the inside if they show it.

The people who pulled this off, judos to them, this was a huge task. and watching that time lapse made it look so easy and quick.

I watched the entire process. I was amazed at how they had every thing rigged up. I have worked as a rigger and have done 100s of heavy lifts and launches. I wonder how they had all the many winches set up to pull evenly?. A complete movie could be made on just the rigging of the ship. Smart People.

The ability to control the lift was awesome. Thanks Christy for the thread.

We build a tug(The Harvey War Horse) and it drew more water that was in Bayou Chico. We also build a very large sponson type box to attach to the stern to help it get out of the Bayou. We wound up not using it but we moved it around the yard for years until we decided to scrap it.

Thats very cool mr ichi. I had no idea you built boats. im very fond of boats myself.

What do you mean that tug drew more water than was in bayou chico?

and your welcome for the thread. Thank you for following along with it and helping me with all the info and links you gave. I really appreciated it.

and I agree, the under water maneuvering of the wenches etc would be a awesome documentary just by itself.

Building Boats is a team effort so it is condescending to say  "you" Built one.  I think this one of was one a favourites to have worked on.  It was a very complex boat. One of the posters has worked on it.

You want to know something? My daddy was a tug boat captain for park hill good low way back in the day. I wonder if you ever helped build any boats he was on.

Ive heard some pretty amazing stories about those days. from dead bodies to horrific storms they had to tuff it out on.
