I think we should look at the Untied States as a union of country/states that can set their own standards within limits to be part of the union.

Then every state can apply to the United Nations for representation.

That ought to get the goat of almost every country in the world as fifty new members enter the UN and one leaves to act only as a union/alliance of country states.
