Why is this....not one word from Obama except when the Pendleton girl was gunned down in Chicago just days after performing at Obama's inauguration.

What a shame the media does not harp on : 2500 black Children have been killed /shot dead in Chicago city since 2010. NOW THAT IS NEWS.

I can almost guarantee you that because of this,  there are black people in Chicago doing neighborhood watch who are armed.  And I guarantee you they are following people who appear to be suspicious to them.  And I guarantee you there has been an instance where they had to defend themselves with the self-defense law.
And that doesn't just go for the "neighborhood watchers".  I also guarantee you that amongst all that violence and shooting,  that there have been participants who also had to use the self-defense law and were justified in doing so.

Joani, I agree 100% that the media are guilty of cherry picking stories that get national attention and I also agree that the POTUS has an obligation to comment on this slaughter of these kids at the very least. Guns are too easy to get and our culture promotes their use . . . . . it's pathetic.

The Sanford incident was an aberration. An outlier. It was a "perfect storm" of rare circumstances all coming together. And because it was an aberration, it got the whole country in an uproar.

You would be wrong. Illinois has not yet implemented conceal and carry. The Guardian Angels have a large number of volunteers. They are unarmed and screened for wanabees. They have courage going into areas where gangbangers are shooting each other taking their drug and territory war to the civilians. 1920 prohibition chicago.....2013 prohibition chicago....violence.....the color of the violence does not matter. The source of the violence is prohibition......why don't we talk about the cause, instead of the racial polemics which are not the cause.

Obama did not speak until the Pendelton girl was gunned down in Chicago days after performing at Obama's inauguration. Furthermore, if you had actually listened to the speech you would have PICKED up on the fact all the black leaders stated Obama's speech was long over due.

cheers cheers ...it is an ongoing travesty that gets worse each year. These are school aged kids getting killed.

Gun laws are not going to change this....it has to start in the home, churches, schools and communities.

Did you get the message or do you just want to act like a big shot and split hairs....

Obama did not speak out until (or with the exception of) the case involving the Pendelton girl. He did not speak out last year when over 450 school aged kids were shot in Chicago. He did not speak out, even though Chicago is his home town, nothing was said.

You link is to the same speech President Barack Hussein Obama gave in Chicago concerning the girl from Pendleton who was gunned down in Chicago just days after performing at the Obama Inauguration.

Even former Chief of Staff to President Barack Hussein Obama, Rahm Emanuel, now Mayor of Chicago mentions not a word of the violence. Maybe Mayor Rahm Emanuel only governs the North Side of Chicago. Who governs the South Side? Mexican Drug cartel?
