2seaoat wrote:What bothers me is THIS is not the discussion. Something is really different than prior times. The proposition that spending trillions more over the last two decades to beef up our criminal justice system, and a common store video and the public solved this......yet exactly what is the purpose of three blocks of cars.....and thousands of officers standing around......we really need to have some soul searching and budget talks about how insanely large our criminal justice system has become.

It was the news media who found the uncle.......law enforcement should have been talking to him a day ago......but the absurdity of this response in Boston forcing every citizen to be confined to their home with one known suspect......we have some very serious issues to deal with, and jerk knee reaction that to discuss this is anti LEO, must stop........we need to realize this country has a standing army....the very thing our founding fathers pledged would never happen in this country.

You complain about everything. Be glad he got caught and in a timely manner.

I am seeing one street three blocks long filled with police cars......there have to be a couple of hundred cars........military vehicles.......buses filled with officers.........and all this is a response to one suspect, and possible more.

We have invested a tremendous amount of resources in law enforcement over the last 30 years with 500% increases in resources, but in the end people were killed by a couple of young men......and entire city of millions are in lock down, and every terrorist is seeing a method to attack us in the future........and sadly those thousands of law enforcement really could not stop the carnage, and doubtfully will stop the next pressure cooker bomb.....and thankfully we once again had a crime solved by security video which is where in my opinion we should be investing dollars. A single 19 year old is shutting down an entire major city in the US, and all the kings men cannot put humpty dumpty back together.........it is very frustrating to see our budget choices, and a store security video and the public seem to have solved this crime......also.....why the delay in release of this video.

I bet you whine about the time the sun comes up, it doesn't suit you.

These are TERRORISTS, not someone who robbed a filling station. The bombs they set worked. How many more did they have and where? During the course of a robbery they killed a police officer doing his duty. During the chase, they were throwing pipe bombs and hand made hand grenades.

Obviously they were not acting alone.

The mission ended successfully. What if they had done what you whine about and used 1/10th of the men and the Terrorist had killed someone else or escaped? You'd have whined about that too. Going to war, and this was a war battle, or going into a fight, you show overwhelming force so the opponent sees they don't have a slim chance in heck.

The last I heard, a few hours back, he had NOT been read his Miranda Right and will soon, hopefully, be on a plane to GITMO.

Sad plane to GITMO.

Are you really that uninformed? He is an American Citizen who committed a crime on American soil. The public safety exception to Miranda rights does not equal a one way ticket to Git Mo..........and what you consider whining is simple facts......a large metropolitan city was put under house arrest because pressure cooker bombs were placed....two. Do you have any idea how our response was being watched by the world? Do you think putting an entire metropolitan area under house arrest was necessary? Do you think releasing those photos a day earlier mattered? Do you think the investigation found these two, or do you think it was a response to a murder and execution of a campus policeman? Do you think with the thousands of law enforcement that they could have captured both suspects? Do you think they could have set a realistic perimeter and instead of a 1000 people standing around........actually had searched that backyard? What you call whining are simple facts. This thing was handled wonderfully by the public. The governmental response which was drawing cheers was anything but stellar, and when you lock down an entire metropolitian area of a major American city you have given the road map for future terrorist.......so please pass the cheese, and I will take a glass of silver Oak please............

This kid isn't going anywhere near GITMO. He killed Americans and he killed police officers. He'll be tried here in the US and probably sentenced to die just like Tim McVeigh was. The police and the citizens of Boston won't stand for him being taken out of the country.

Locking down an American city would make future terrorists happy if the guy hadn't been caught. He was caught and it caused a patriotic fervor from the people of Boston. Pride in our country is not what the terrorists are aiming for. I have to disagree with you on this one.

The shelter in place order had been lifted.

After the order was lifted, the homeowner went outside and saw blood on his boat. He lifted the tarp on the boat and saw the suspect lying inside. I guess the guy wasn't feeling well enough to blow the homeowner's brains out at the time. We're all lucky for that. Then the homeowner called 911.
What law was broken?

Hey, I'm with you on most of this.

Just correcting misinformation.

I bet that guy's boat is full of holes today.

Wonder if he'll be compensated.

How did that guy survive that many rounds? They can't be that bad at shooting . . . . . . he should have taken 15-18 rounds.

Sorry I am eating a salmon steak at my favorite restaurant and I can't see much on this tiny screen. I thought it was Big Cvhief Sal Blumoon that uttered those famous words "we should trust the whiteman ".

I saw at least one pic as I was surfing around earlier. The tarp was pretty much obliterated on one side.

I'd say he was well hunkered behind something substantial that was in or a part of the boat.

And yes, there is already an online effort to raise money for the guy's boat. Unless it's taken from him, I'd lock that boat away in a safe place.

Thanks for the promotion to Chief. They were using heat sensors to tell where he was located in the boat. It is obvious they did not want him dead.

He was hiding next to the engine.

Judging from the design, that is at least a 24 foot boat. They had at least 18 foot of it to blow away without touching the suspect.

Maybe, but we need a great deal more information......people do not usually fire their weapon trying scare a person, or awaken the neighbors.....I saw an engine between the perp and most likely where the shots were coming from. Also, I saw an armored vehicle with a long extended arm which could be put into the boat.......and believe they had much better images at the end when that vehicle got close enough to drop it in the boat.......I do not think I would be crawling into that boat dead or alive until I got the lay of the land concerning boobie traps.......and the boat had fuel in it from reports I have heard. We simply need more information.

I just read that the boat was a 22 foot Seahawk. I don't know much about that brand but it's plenty large enough to riddle with bullets on the cabin end and never hit someone hiding next to the engine.

What exactly is the question? It obviously happened that way. To me, questioning how it could be true doesn't make any sense. There were gunshots fired at the boat but the suspect was not hit. There are photos of him exiting the boat.

What is the necessity of questioning every single event that happens? I honestly do not get it.

Apparently it requires doubting everything your eyes tell you. Sorry, but sometimes my lying eyes really aren't lying. You need to take it easy on yourself. You'll explode someday. You'll turn out like the guy who mailed the Ricin to the President and they'll put you in a padded cell.
I'd rather keep it real.
