I am really happy that they have cornered the suspect, but I am shocked by some of the photos and video I am watching. I am seeing one street three blocks long filled with police cars......there have to be a couple of hundred cars........military vehicles.......buses filled with officers.........and all this is a response to one suspect, and possible more.

We have invested a tremendous amount of resources in law enforcement over the last 30 years with 500% increases in resources, but in the end people were killed by a couple of young men......and entire city of millions are in lock down, and every terrorist is seeing a method to attack us in the future........and sadly those thousands of law enforcement really could not stop the carnage, and doubtfully will stop the next pressure cooker bomb.....and thankfully we once again had a crime solved by security video which is where in my opinion we should be investing dollars. A single 19 year old is shutting down an entire major city in the US, and all the kings men cannot put humpty dumpty back together.........it is very frustrating to see our budget choices, and a store security video and the public seem to have solved this crime......also.....why the delay in release of this video.

Just let law enforcement do their jobs...

What bothers me is THIS is not the discussion. Something is really different than prior times. The proposition that spending trillions more over the last two decades to beef up our criminal justice system, and a common store video and the public solved this......yet exactly what is the purpose of three blocks of cars.....and thousands of officers standing around......we really need to have some soul searching and budget talks about how insanely large our criminal justice system has become.

It was the news media who found the uncle.......law enforcement should have been talking to him a day ago......but the absurdity of this response in Boston forcing every citizen to be confined to their home with one known suspect......we have some very serious issues to deal with, and jerk knee reaction that to discuss this is anti LEO, must stop........we need to realize this country has a standing army....the very thing our founding fathers pledged would never happen in this country.

Nice to know that there's always someone to blame for doing their jobs...and had they rushed in and more surrounding innocent lives lost some of the same whiners would wonder....why did they rush in...there really is no winning with some...

Once again it has been the public who has solved this with a private party video. An entire city shut down by one perp.........and the entire population held in check by a standing army........sorry, is the terrorist bomb the problem, or is it the evolution of the American Criminal Justice System to where we can shut a city down......ironically the same city the British did the same thing a couple of hundred years ago and why we fought a revolution. It is the ease of how this entire city has been shut down which is bothering me. The power to put an entire population into house arrest. If there were 100 armed individuals, and known threats to the Metropolitan area.......I think I would understand this order, but to turn a free people into folks who are under house arrest over one suspect........Houston......we have a problem.

OK so what 17 shut down an entire nation....what's the point?...You are so wrong the police have to not only get their pos they also have to protect the public...better to error on the side of safety....because if not then the bitching woulld be how could the police not control the area...

There will be fifty domestics nationwide which involves a threat of violence. Once we put political connotations on the same, are we going to be able to put entire cities into house arrest? If I live 5 miles away from this surrounded individual, is my house arrest necessary? It is the ease of how the entire population can be arrested and commanded to their homes which is the most terrifying thing for me right now.......I know lets err on the side of safety.....yet how easily we as a free people have allowed the creation of standing armies in this country who can do things to us that the British regularly did not do..........this entire incident needs to be reviewed. It was the people who solved this bombing, and the scary part is the ease of our submission to this standing army.

Now military style helicopters are flying over Boston. I will stand corrected if in fact there are an armed group who has taken over a section of the city......but if not........a no fly zone.....military helicopters filling the sky......and house arrest of the population........locked down.........this response scares me more than the possibility of a terrorist bomb.

They are talking about locking down the Boston metropolitan area for the weekend........is there no one else who sees the problem here. Are we not giving huge incentives to have folks repeat this model? An entire city crippled by one individual. A population who can be manipulated by a government who only has to elevate an issue of violence, to a political or terrorist response.

The terrorist have just won in my opinion. They had not won up until today. They have won, and they see a clear path to repeat this if the American people remain sheeplike. Where is the protest to be under house arrest five miles away from the search area? A crazed husband who has weapons and bombs takes his wife hostage........should be shut down Houston.....Chicago......Birmingham.......? I simply do not understand this metropolitan wide house arrest.......it is mind boggling that they are now talking about extending this through the weekend.........the terrorist have simply lit the fuse to watch us destroy ourselves.....the exact formula Bin Ladin taught.

He's desperate and will fuck up and get caught or killed by this evening, so it will be a moot point.

You are right though, this reaction is so over the top it's simply surreal.

Apache helicopters?

Really??

This outrage continues.....the media is not even raising a question about a major metropolitan area being put into house arrest.......this is insanity. This is either one huge case of crying wolf.......or there is something we simply do not understand.....chemical or biological threat......but without explanation an army appears and sentences law abiding citizens to house arrest........this appears to be utter incompetence, and a direct invitation for other terrorist to follow this protocol......what a jackpot for terrorism.....complete and total idiotic response......I look forward to be proved wrong.......I will enjoy folks kicking my butt on this forum for questioning this.......but sadly......I will probably be dead cinch correct.

2seaoat

The entertainment district of Boston has approximately 50 weekends to make their nut..........now one guy has locked down a million people......the goal of terrorism failed the first four days.....but we have managed to compound this by our boneheaded voluntary acts, and given them a huge success. The economic impact alone is going to be enormous. We need to engage our brains because we have just created a template for future attacks.........I cannot believe the media is silent on this........We have been sadly completely brainwashed that our Law enforcement mechanism walk on water when the opposite is true.....this is a huge fail......it is totally bewildering to me that the media is silent as a million people are still in house arrest.

Since Sal is giving me 20-1 odds in another thread...

This is a practice run for the tyrant-in-chief to see how well martial law will work in a major metropolitan district before he declares himself king-and-majesty of the United Sovereign Socialist Republic of Obama.

This entire army is present, and now they are reporting that the 19 year old simply got in the vehicle....ran his brother over and bust through a police barricaide, and got away......I repeat got away......a million people in house arrest, and multiple thousands of an army kill the brother, but cannot pursue one 19 year old in a car.......have I been watching Cop episodes which are fake.......how does this happen, and how does a city get put into house arrest? Where is the news media to drill down on what happen last night.....silence, and nobody available to explain why a million people are under house arrest.......no questions how a 19 year old in a car can escape with thousands of law enforcement........

I was lifted by the initial spirit of the citizens of Boston not to stop living and to triumph over terrorism......yet this irrational fear of one 19 year old who simply busted through leo........is crazy.

I finally heard a news person call this whole situation "bizarre" ........maybe they are starting to think and realize this may be one big F up...........WHERE IS OUR MEDIA?

The more I watch, the more I agree with Mr. Oats.

The power we are granting a single individual over an entire city is deeply disconcerting.

Megalomaniacs from coast to coast are salivating at the spectacle.

I am watching talking heads spew......and spew......something which probably should be done in a bathroom, yet nobody raising a simple question......Why have we made the apprehension of a criminal into some bizarre shut down of a metropolitan area. I could understand if they were telling us that there was a biological or chemical.......and I understand in that case they must stay silent to not allow panic......but this type of response to basically a criminal fugitive? This is very very very strange.......where are the questions by the media......where is a news conference explaining a justification for putting a million people under house arrest.........I feel like I have landed in Nazi Germany in 1938 and I am seeing pure manipulation and propaganda to control a population........this is beginning to look like a F up, and this guy is now going almost 24 hours since they should have taken him down.......and instead we take down a city......I am going to shut this damn tv off.....and go to an early movie because I am going to pop a blood vessel......this is like nothing I have seen in my life.......innocent people under house arrest.......WTF!

If they call a curfew you will know the game is over and we have lost...

I just sent a message to NBC news.......do your job.....or shut the damn network down.........you have people spewing nonsense hour after hour, and not one question to officials as to why a metropolitan wide house arrest of innocent citizens is necessary? Huge fail......and I doubt I will get a response, but I hope to hell someone starts asking questions.
