...President Dwight Eisenhower called the TVA “creeping socialism,” while President Ronald Reagan criticized it as an example of big government. Republicans from Barry Goldwater to Newt Gingrich have pointed to the TVA as an example of where the private sector could provide services more cheaply and effectively than bureaucrats...

“For the first time that I’m aware of, you’ve got a Democratic administration proposing the sale of TVA and simultaneously you’ve got significant, conservative federal representatives in the House and Senate defending their local socialist project,” Smith said. “There’s a lot irony in it and little bit of humor actually.”

I guess when it comes to walking the walk, conservatives in government are paralyzed.....

Why don't they just admit they love Big Government as much as their Democratic opponents?

Several legislators who represent areas affected by TVA aren't exactly representative of the entire "GOP". That is what they are supposed to do you know - represent their constituents interests. Sort of like Dems protesting entitlement spending cuts since major blocs of entitlement recipients generally vote Democrat. I smell just the wee odor of bias in the article but carry on.

Absolutely agree chain, what comes immediately to my mind is the ethanol subsidy . . . . . . the corn states are a mixture of Dems and GOPers but they all support that subsidy . . . . . like you said they are representing their constituents . . . . . . it's called politics and bringing home the pork! LOL
