1. It's fitting that the spot called AR15 is shooting at us. I have an AR15. Should I return fire?
2. The peak of the solar flares has not been reached yet. Wait till next year.

Thankfully, THIS one is not headed in the Earth's direction... Wait a minute! The article I read yesterday said it WASN'T headed our way. This one says it is...

I guess this is what I read and "assumed" it wasn't headed our way: Large solar flare erupts; little impact to Earth

http://news.yahoo.com/large-solar-flare-erupts-little-impact-earth-220556877.html

"The solar storm is expected to arrive early Saturday, but forecasters at the government's Space Weather Prediction Center say they expected minimal impact to communication systems and power grids.

It may spark colorful auroras in southern Canada and northern United States."

It's like russian roulette. Eventually the big one will come our way. And there ain't nothing that we can do about it.

SPACE reports:

"Space weather experts kept track of a solar storm that swept over our planet on Saturday, representing the fallout from a powerful solar flare earlier this week.

"The impact was not as strong as forecasters expected," SpaceWeather.com's Tony Phillips wrote. "Nevertheless, the blow compressed Earth's magnetosphere and sparked a mild ... geomagnetic storm."

I noticed this morning that my tinfoil helmet suffered greatly during that storm. It became transparent like Saran wrap.

If the 'impact was not as strong as forecasters expected', how can they reliably forecast other solar events? It's all math based on theories, right? They can tell the age of a star by it's radioactive emissions, and the sun is a star, so.... Sounds to me like your average weatherman...
