exactly.....there is a difference between pervs and just plain ole horny dudes. Sex is a part of human nature....using that to exploit the minds of weak men is not. The real criminals are actually those conducting the stings and somebody should be and will be eventually held accountable. LIES LIES LIES.....it makes me sick to my stomach what is happening. Florida has got a serious problem on its hands.....there is a right way and a wrong way to perform sting operations. A good example i use is bait cars....they dont put bait cars in the middle of a mall parking lot where theres been no problems with car theft....they put the damn bait car in an area known for crooks stealing vehicles. These stings are like them putting the damn car in the mall parking lot! Theres no reason for it! DUI checkpoints are another example but differ somewhat. They set them up at locations where they think drinking and driving may occur, but they also have to make the public aware of this beforehand. Of course they cant do that in these stings cuz it would compromise their goal which is arresting innocent men then lying about it.

We are talking about sting operations and not jack booted police. Why would a sting operation lure innocent people. A sting operation is not even going to catch the attention of someone that is not doing anything wrong. So yes if you want to put it that way, then I am very much in favor of it.

A sting operation will always lure innocent people when it's specifically designed to do exactly that. If a sting operation was attention getting then it wouldn't catch anybody at all.

These stings aren't designed like a drug sting that has to be carefully tailored to a specific purpose. In a drug sting police are allowed to put out an undercover officer to act like a drug dealer in a neighborhood with known drug trafficking. The officer waits to be approached and if someone comes up to him asking to buy drugs then an arrest can be made. What the officer cannot do is accost every passerby asking "Hey you wanna buy some drugs?" hoping somebody will take the bait and say yes and then arrest that person.

In these sex stings police go above and beyond and place ads basically saying "Hey wanna hook up with an adult?" on adult sites hoping someone will take the bait. This is even worse than the above because the police aren't even bothering to advertise anything illegal. When somebody shows interest in the adult, then and only then is anything to do with a child introduced. At that point it's too late for the defendant, he will be arrested no matter what he does after that.

This is the internet equivalent of jack booted thugs breaking into homes at random and what I think frightens me the most is that you're ok with living in a police state where the truly dangerous child predators continue to roam free.

In the first place, I am only speaking of pedophilia and not adult sex. I know the title of the thread is about sex stings, but my post referenced pedophilia and that is what I have been addressing all along.

When the police conduct a sting such as we are discussing, they use an adult posing as an underage person in order to coax the pedophile in the intent or to commit a sex crime with an underage person.

No sting operations catch those with the intent to break the law. There is nothing innocent about someone like that. These are called Inchoate crimes, which are also referred to as incomplete crimes, are acts involving the tendency to commit, or to indirectly participate in a criminal offense. -

The constitutional challenges can take up to 6 years to exhaust remedies.....in the meantime horny 18 year old kids are sacrificed at the alter of feeding a criminal justice system which has empty private prisons......therefore this idea of throwing a few innocent people into the meat grinder to get the flavoring on your pervert hamburger.......where you can feel good about how good that burger tastes.....well for far fewer bucks, you can get a lean pervert burger.....it is simply allocating assets correctly, and not throwing these dumb kids into the meat grinder.

lets look at the money aspect of these operations then. Funding comes in the form of grant money from the Dept. of Justice in the form of the Edward Byrnes Memorial Assistance Grant, and other grants as well. This grant in particular has been scrutinized for law enforcement "doctoring" the crime statistics to support and justify continued funding. Incentivizing crime is illegal and what we have here is just that. This would explain why Florida is the only state doing these stings in this fashion although money also comes from other directions as well and its fairly difficult to follow the money trail. But it doesnt matter because when the state admits that they are performing them for no reason at all, that is all the proof you need! Read about the 13th paragraph or so down from this link.....bada-bing, bada-boom. Your taxpayer money being spent for no reason

I say again, I am strictly referencing adults having sex with minors, anyone under the age of 18 according to Florida law. If a 21 year old has sex with a 16 year old he is more than likely going to jail, no ifs, ands or buts.

But again I am not talking adults, I am talking pedophilia.

We are talking about the exact same thing and the point you seem to be missing is that police do NOT use an adult posing as an underage person. They are using an adult posing as an adult, advertising for consensual adult activities and then injecting talk of a minor in order to arrest someone for a sex crime with an underage person. Most of the people getting arrested in these stings were not actively seeking out sex with a minor.

2Seaoat....that was an interesting/funny way to approach this serious issue...it made me laugh, lmao. Some people just wont get it, and we understand that people have the right to voice their opinion. But law enforcement does not have the right to impose its will on its citizens for no reason whatsoever. They think they are above the law, and have succeeded so far. This story is going to be so huge......i dont think people understand the seriousness of what is happening. I call it the largest law enforcement blunder this country has ever seen. There has been national attention on Floridas stings, but all "pro-police". They wont even touch the opposing side of the issue......its all one-sided. Mark my word, this is going to be a big nightmare for the state of Florida when its all said and done.

talknstang

ahh GhostRider...glad you clarified that. But like mentioned before, these men are not seeking out a minor because men are not trolling on adult sites looking for minor in the first place. They are bait and switch operations and sex is the bait. The lure is the suggestive ad and the confusion is the mature adult photograph that they say is the minor. Trickery, lies and deceit.....sounds like a title to a good movie in the near future, lol

No aladdan, look at the post I made earlier. The guy from FWB thought he was coming to Pensacola for sex with a 13 year old. This information was fed to him by an adult.

Yes I know and understand exactly what we are talking about and this is a perfect example. According to the press release:

"Joshua Patrick Baker, 22, of 554 Kanuah Dr., Fort Walton Beach, was charged with obscene communications using a computer to solicit parent/guardian consent, traveling to meet using a computer to solicit parent or guardian, and using a two-way communicate device to facilitate a felony."

Where in those charges does it say he was communicating with a minor? Nowhere because he wasn't actively seeking a minor nor did he ever talk to anyone he thought was a minor otherwise the charges would be different. He was looking for another consenting adult and answered an ad placed by an adult police officer claiming to be an adult on an age restricted adult forum advertising for consensual adult activity. It was only after Baker answered the ad that any hint of anything to do with a minor was introduced. At no time did a police officer pose as a 13 year old. If one had then Baker's charges would be soliciting a minor and traveling to meet a minor not soliciting a parent/guardian.

i havnt looked up that particular case though.....although if there was only 1 or so arrests, that would make me think that they are using proper procedure as opposed to the ridiculous amount of men they have arrested in prior stings. Perhaps they are now weeding out the ones who are not the true criminals properly instead of subjecting them to incarceration.

talknstang

oh ok, so they used the whole parent/guardian thing again. Well that has got to stop. I am sure the ad mentioned nothing involving a minor, but of an adult then the "switch" was done after this kid was lured in. Same story, but odd only one would be arrested

2seaoat

But again I am not talking adults, I am talking pedophilia.

Actually you are completely correct. Most pedophiles cannot even be sexually aroused by an adult of either sex. They suffer deep seated psychological confusion which is not simply some fantasy to be with someone younger, but hardwired arousal to minor children. My friend who works with court services literally puts a device on a sex offender's penis and they give a range of images over repeated session to track a baseline and identify the sexual arousal. Any machine can be beaten. However, they repeatedly can see that these offenders are extremely dangerous because they cannot just shut off the arousal process. They see a young child and they can be aroused.

However, these stings rarely.....RARELY......rarely are catching true pedophiles, but rather kids who have been tricked as exactly has been described in this thread. I am so happy someone has brought this thread alive. First, I never saw what happened to the 30 or so men who were tricked by the adult asking for sex and then offering her 15 year old sister.......Now we have talked about what is constitutional and what is not.....but I sure did not hear a thing in the paper after those initial sensational headlines........then a follow up article started questioning the use of an adult and then the bait and switch to the 15 year old sister......folks were pretty upset with this operation.....but then absolute silence.........it has been over a year.....and absolute silence until this thread. The whole private prison controversy as we are learning judges are being paid to send kids to private jails, and now we have repeated and mass entrapment.......and like most people I go rah rah.....put the perverts in jail......that is until you start seeing what actually is going on......and yes out of those 30, there were about 3 people who had prior convictions.....so yes......probably 10% effective law enforcement, and 90% tricking otherwise law abiding citizens.

aladdin4d

Ghost_Rider1 is right in that police are supposed to pose as minors to conduct these stings and they have been very good in convincing the public that is what they are doing but there's no way to get "soliciting parent/guardian" charges unless the police were posing as adults.

talknstang

these stings have due process violations written all over them, theres no doubt, but people dont quite understand objective entrapment and how it is applied. Remember, all that is reported is the information that makes these men look guilty as sin so the public can be led to believe that law enforcement just caught "americas most wanted". They dont want the truth to be exposed because it would twart their funding. It takes forums like this one to get the message out. You have to admit that it is quite odd that Florida stands out by far in the number of stings performed. Why is that? How is it that Florida has more Pedos than any other state in the nation? How is it that the largest, most populous counties have not performed child oriented sex stings? Just GOOGLE "sex sting" and see what you get. FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA. I mean, come on peeps, it doesnt take an ACE VENTURA to figure out what is going on here. What they have done is made Florida the PEDOPHILE capital of the US, and this was the title to the article i wrote for the PNJ. Can you imagine what damage will occur if this story is exposed? Its unbelievable. I believe people are starting to seriously question what is happening, and that is a good thing. The numbers dont lie......law enforcement does!

talknstang wrote:now dont misunderstand my viewpoint, i am not trying to defend pedophiles one bit. As a friend of mine said, "i'm all about sticking a needle in an honest to god pedophile", but when you look at the data/information, these men were not predisposed to commit this type of crime anyway. Very, very few of them are found with child porn on their computers. Does the arrest of one true pedo justify having to arrest innocent men in the process and then prosecuting them as well? This is what is happening!

We have a new left sock.
What a suprise.

i havnt posted it online yet, but if anyone is interested in obtaining a copy of the presentation that i have prepared on "The Truth and Realities about Florida's Sex Sting Operations" just PM me with your email address and i will be more than happy to send the .pdf. I am looking forward to having it reviewed by others. Even if youre law enforcement, it doesnt matter, lol. Eventually it will fall into their hands anyway.......as i said before, it takes a different approach to these sting operations without getting into all the complex legal issues and cases law. Although much of it has been discussed in this topic, it includes proof and facts that support the argument and then some.

also, there are some absolute gutwrenching accounts of other peoples horror stories that will make you sick to your stomach when you read them and when you do, you will understand why something must be done about this gross injustice

talknstang

well i feel my job here is complete. I only hope i made at least one person the least bit suspicious of the problem that is happening. Thanks everyone for voicing their opinions....even those who oppose my argument. Its been real, its been fun, but it aint been real fun.

Mr. X, you have already done enough damage to discredit yourself and the organization you work for, so you probably should just go ahead and change your name from Mr. X to Mr. M., and i dont think i need to spell out what the "M" would stand for. I have made my point in my topics and i rest my case. For those who do not think i have a valid argument, thats fine......i am not here to change the world, just to tell the truth, yet those who judge without knowing the facts do not have an open mind. So Mr. X, go hang out in the "Kiddie" rooms where the true pervs lurk and let us adults have an adult conversation. I hope you took my picture down off your bedroom wall weirdo.......and once and for all, stop assuming!

This is so unfair. It is ruing the lives of men that otherwise would not be considered sexual offenders. They are going into adult websites and finding men who are willing to talk about crazy sex. These men are not on the adult site looking for kids, they are looking for sex, companionship. Like I told a friend of mine, it the woman on the other end of the keyboard talked about having sex with a monkey instead of what they were speaking about, the man would have gone along with that too. Of course there are some guilty men on these sites who actually would go for a child, but after all my research I find that most of these men had no prior history, interest in children, no child porn, nothing at all that indicated that they were trying to find a child to have sex with. But it does not seem to matter at all. They are getting years in prison, years of probation and then a life time on the registry. WHY? Why are these men in prison? Oh I am soooo mad.
