The accords afforded a lot of aid to both Israel and Egypt (too much to both sides, in my opinion). After that, the U.S. became a major arms supplier to the Egyptians. The Egyptian military uses a lot more U.S. military equipment besides F-16s. Like F-4 Phantoms jets, M-1 tanks, Apache attack helicopters, Blackhawk and Chinook transport helicopters, Perry and Knox Class frigates.
I guess the question that needs to be asked is, what is Obama doing wrong here if it has been U.S. policy to supply Egypt with arms for the last several decades?

Look......Post colonial middle east has government as a showcase for the military which controls most of the governments. We have mastered with the CIA grooming young officers, and keeping the money flowing......If you think for a moment that a brutal military dictatorship could not prop a "democratic puppet" in Egypt you are wrong. It is the same story in Pakistan. We sell sophisticated and very expensive weapon systems which we can fully destroy, yet it gives those who possess them the false sense of parity.....we feed our military industrial complex.....the senator from Missouri can brag about a 1000 new jobs, and so it goes.......you need to take your blinders off if you think the President is going to snap his fingers and stop these historic relationships which are memorialized in treaties like Camp David Accords......but heck.....you are going to tell us what the President is doing wrong.....you might want to dig a little deeper....there is plenty of culpability.

That is a lie. Had romney been elected I would have hoped he would have used common sense, and I would have been angry had he not.
You and others will continue to use election results as a excuse to not address anything you cant excuse away.
what could, would or should have been is irrelevant now. This is what we have. And if you see that it is wrong, then address it as such.

Z you have been here long enough to know that some people are going to blame Obama for everything that is going on, right or wrong. It makes no difference to them that Egypt has been flying F-16s since the 70-80s and any number of previous presidents could have readdressed the program, all failed to do so, so now Obama takes all the blame.
F-16s and well as any other weapon system that belongs to the US is state of art, but you can bet your bottom dollar that some top secret hardware that is part of these weapons systems in use by US forces is not included in the systems that we sell or give to other countries.

I remember posting a year/2 years ago that we might regret that decision as the Muslim Brotherhood would probably take over.
Yup. There is no obligation on our part to recognize past agreements with past governments when the governmental structure has changed so dramatically.
Additive is our own financial debt.
Simple question: Would we rather send dollars to a questionable and extremely unstable new government with highly dubious results
Or: Would we rather cover our own tails and that would include "entitlements" ( hate that word ) for you libs.

I say send them short range planes, bombs, and all the guns they can handle. Sit back and let them have fun. As long as we're not getting shot at, who cares. Do the same in iraq and afghanistan. Let them kill eachother.
