My wife can play about five instruments, and she is this wonderfully creative artist. We have been going to surprise 60 year old birthday parties, and she has touched people's souls. It is a special gift to be able to draw.....I have the imagination, but simply do not have the techniques, perspective, or patience.....but my wife never quits amazing me.
What she did was create 6 panels....almost like comic book panels....and then she went back into people's lives and created a frame with detail and a bubble and captions to create something in their past. I witnessed two 60 year olds brought to tears......I simply have never seen this reaction. She drew with such detail how one of our friends would blow up his weber grill at the 4th of July party......an m-80 thrown into the weber and quickly place the top on it and everybody runs....crazy......and she did this in six panels.
The last one we went to last saturday, was a friend from preschool classes at a catholic school. She had drawn this elaborate drawing of two girls who had climbed into an apple tree.....and they would sit as two 7 year olds eating green apples, and talking about the world.......the birthday girl just started crying....her daughters could not understand what my wife had done for her friend.....it was very powerful.......and I sit with no talent....simply amazed at people who can draw, play instruments, and sing......what beautiful gifts we get bestowed upon us.....I am not really jealous.....but I so appreciate talented people........they are gifts.
