Counties could have to pay tens of millions of dollars in disputed health care charges that have piled up for years under a Medicaid bill (HB 5301), which includes several other provisions in addition to the billing change.

The most contentious part of the measure requires counties to pay disputed Medicaid bills unless they can prove to an administrative judge the bills were unwarranted

The Florida Association of Counties estimates the new law could cost Santa Rosa County as much as $1.5 million the first year and Escambia County as much as $6.2 million

And dont give this BS about how its rick scotts fault. You cant expect services and then not pay for them. Somebody has to pay for every free thing the Gov gives away.

Chrissy.....Medicaid is not "free" health care. But you knew that.

And yes, I blame Rick Scott for the passage of this idiotic law. Scott's all about jobs and saving the economy, and then he lays something like this at the doorsteps of counties that are already in trouble?

The legislators who passed this law knew darned well that no county would have the manpower to go back and fight each and every disputed case. Because they knew this, this law amounts to nothing but legal extortion.

It makes me sick.

WOW! you have a lot of brass saying that about scott when obama just did the same exact thing on a MUCH BIGGER scale.

Dont think all this crap has to be paid for?

if you cant pay for it now how in the hell do you think we are going to pay for it when it gets MUCH bigger?

Please tell me your logic..

for florida alone adding to the rolls will increase the federal portion and state portion.

Most of the cost, running into the billions, would be absorbed by the federal government. The Medicaid expansion would not cost the state anything until 2017 - although AHCA estimates that changes to other state-subsidized programs would require state money starting in 2014. AHCA estimates that the overall cost to the state would be $2.4 billion between 2013 and 2018 with the federal government picking up nearly $26 billion

THIS IS ONE STATE!

How is this going to get paid? You dont want to pay the teeny 1 million now.

whats going to pay for it, the 21 new taxes?

do you think when the drug co's and the medical device co's incure a cost it wont be passed on?

havnt we talked about this before how it wont work unless EVERYTHING to do with medical care is REGULATED? we have

Never said I wasn't a brassy old biddy. Laughing I'm not just getting older, I'm getting bolder.

And yes, the legitimate Medicaid bills should be paid. The problem is the state waited years before determining they weren't being adequately paid.
Now, there are so many claims to consider that no county in this state will be able to do it, so they will have to ante up for all the claims, legitimate or not.

If the state was going to take this action, it should have been done years ago. That, or the law should apply from this point on rather than retroactively.

Again, I say this law amounts to nothing more than legal extortion. The state screwed up by letting this go on for years without taking any action, so now, instead of taking responsibility for their own screw-up, they are shifting the blame to the counties.

And yes, Scott supported this law, so I hold him ultimately accountable.

sure, youll hold scott accountable, but its very different when it comes to holding counties accountable for not paying in the first place.

Times are hard, the state and counties and all the way down to individuals are looking for that extra cash they should be receiving. Or ways to add to their own budgets or cut their bugets. would you not agree?

so with that said, if counties OWE this money then why is scott a bad guy for making them pay up? Perhaps everybody elses old bills should just let them off the hook too and start from this day forward. Sounds like a great idea.

To add to dreams post with the exception of the childish dumbass comment. Escambia county has a huge problem with out of state individuals coming to Pensatucky to get medical treatment. We will wind up paying for alot of Alabama residents medicare bills.

You're the stupid dumbass. You dont know a damn thing about healthcare billing works but yet you run your mouth like diarhea from an aids patients ass.

The most contentious part of the measure requires counties to pay disputed Medicaid bills unless they can prove to an administrative judge the bills were unwarranted.

They will have their chance to dispute. I clearly showed that portion of the story so dumbasses such as yourself could see it because my point was made in how are we going to pay for this when you dont want to pay this little bit.

Fact still remains which a really stupid person such as yourself cant seem to grasp, they dont want to pay this teeny portion, how do you expect the following millions to be paid for on this new bill.

seriously. You have to be the most stupidest person ever.

You really should stay out of conversation you know nothing about.

Boo Hoo

The whole freakin state has a problem with people from out of country bills.

with that said, AGAIN. I was making a point that we cant pay the bills we have now for medicaid. I dont care where these people are coming from. its irrelivant.

The point is, we cant pay it now, but you want more of it. and then when people are ask to pay for it, we all get silly and try and push the bill off on somebody else.

whos the somebody else? can anyone tell me? I know who it is.

I find the word "stupid" just as offensive. I also find calling someone trash, low IQ and a moron about equally on that same level.

because I am out in your face people often ASSUME I started these little tangents when in fact what you typically see is MY REACTION to the abuse i take on these forums.

Sorry chrissy but I dont choose sides. I hate to even keep this thread going except to say that yes, the medicare bill in Escambia county is a BIG deal. Months ago we were going to have to sacrifice our library system over the lack of funding arising from the states mandate to pay medicare bills. At that time grover robinson stepped up and said the biggest single cause for our medicare funding issues is out of state recipients coming to pensacola to get treatment. Escambia is only supposed to be billed for escambia medicare recipients.

WOW! you have a lot of brass saying that about scott when obama just did the same exact thing on a MUCH BIGGER scale.

Dont think all this crap has to be paid for?

if you cant pay for it now how in the hell do you think we are going to pay for it when it gets MUCH bigger?

Please tell me your logic..

Dumbass-get your info. straight again. The counties are not refusing to pay what they owe. They are refusing to pay for billing errors that is rampant in the state billing system.

To add to dreams post with the exception of the childish dumbass comment. Escambia county has a huge problem with out of state individuals coming to Pensatucky to get medical treatment. We will wind up paying for alot of Alabama residents medicare bills.

Again shut up about my comments to Chrissy. She calls me a lot worse and I don't see you commenting on that.

Sorry sugar...wasnt trying to get your panties in a wad. I was just letting people know that i was adding to what you said with the exception of one part. Calling people queers, cunts, faggots, dumbasses, etc does nothing for the post and shows a low IQ on the part of the poster. As does the offering of a free blowjob or clitlick just for getting in the chatroom. It doesnt bother me in the least, I've spent the last 27 years at a firestation and any words yall choose to use will pale by comparison. Some folks, on the other hand, are highly offended by these words.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

You got told to shut up for taking her side HA! HA!

If I were you I would stop making myself look like an ass.I'm embarrassed for you.You are too dumb to understand what he said.

lol!

Escambia is only supposed to be billed for escambia medicare recipients.

why not medicaid recipeints?

and dont you think you could bill alabama for the cost of taking care of their patients? should be able to sue em for that.

never the less dreams blasted you because she thought you were defending me when in fact you were on her side LOL

I find that hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Twisted Evil

no stress

no stress

whatever. the whole thing is romper room. im done with this thread.

I find the word "stupid" just as offensive. I also find calling someone trash, low IQ and a moron about equally on that same level.

because I am out in your face people often ASSUME I started these little tangents when in fact what you typically see is MY REACTION to the abuse i take on these forums.

Ban me. Sterilize me. Do it. you know you want to.

Naw-you're lying to yourself and us. You started it by calling me a "smug bitch" and saying all this foul stuff. You just need to grow up and act like you have some sense.
