I do not care if the Mayor stood on his head nude in the middle of the street, the real reason the Police unions are smearing the Mayor and his chief of Staff is that Public Pensions need to be adjusted in Pensacola, and he can either be a weak knee administrator of the status quo.....or he can make the necessary changes. A strong mayor was what the citizens voted for, but as usual when real and necessary change is being effected.....the personal attacks begin.

The pensions are going to have to be dealt with. Those working for the city and fighting a compromise are playing Russian roulette with their retirement. Cities across the country a lot wealthier than Pensacola are filing for bankruptcy over this very issue.

That said, the mayor (and his little puppet) acted stupidly and I am glad that the council is pursuing it. Acting like a drunken, emotional frat boy towards the police is not the level of maturity I find acceptable in a mayor, especially a strong one.

Did anyone here actually see the mayor act up during Gallery Night? I didn't, so I do not know what really happened.

I was not, but two years ago I was sitting on a ledge on the north side of Surf's Kitchen store with my wife at the Pelican drop, and I saw a drunk simply getting mouthy....never saw anything but words when he was pummeled and dragged down the sidewalk until his pants had come off from the dragging by four police officers and when one looked me in my eyes with my total disdain, he realized they were making a not to favorable impression on folks, and he stopped his fellow officers....pulled the intoxicated person's pants back up and brought him to his feet and escorted him across the street professionally......however, people were talking about how much of an overreaction the response was......so no.....I was not there.....but I can say this with certainty.....I would take the Mayor's word first when he is the man addressing the City's pension crisis. It is no fun dealing with a mean drunk....but what I saw that evening was not a mean drunk, and I have serious questions about the judgment of the officers involved.

Didn't you want Walker hung?

Understand the issues please.....In Wisconsin an attempt was made to take the right of government employees to collective bargain......In Pensacola, nobody is trying to take the right to collective bargain away, but reasonable suggestions are being made to bring solvency to the municipal pension.....please pay attention.

no stress

The pensions and collective bargaining are interwoven at the moment.
