My ECUA bill has changed.This month,there is not a "Fee Due To Cnty Ord." which was always around $1.09. Instead I now see this: Esc Cty Landfill Fee which is now $3.44.

Anyone know what is up with that? I believe that Escambia County is trying to nickel and dime me to death!

That is why I voted for Vicki Campbell for District 1. She is running against the incumbent, Elizabeth Campbell.

On page 6 of this document http://www.ecua.fl.gov/system/files/Proposed%20fiscal%20year%202012-2013%20budget.pdf, ECUA says that Escambia County raised their "disposal costs at their Perdido Landfill and attendant fees at their transfer station."

That's just how things are done in conservative FL/Escambia County.. Shocked

When you look at it, our citizens really got a freebie by having FEMA pay for over half the $300M cost of the new sewage plant. There was no way Old Stinky was going away without Hurricane Ivan. We all should be thankful for its destruction.

And by wrangling all of that money out of the Feds, and moving the plant up to the north county, the GOBs from downtown hit a triple. They got to reap the benefits of redevelopment of the waterfront along Main Street, and the new plant opens up the whole north county to brand new development. Someone is going to make tons of money off this deal one day, if they haven't already.

Back to the rate increases... They have to raise our rates to pay for the other half of the new plant that the Feds did not pay for.
