These alleged "crimes" occurred while Trump was POTUS. I think it's unlikely to have standing by a state court or a county DA. I don't anticipate that to stop the proceedings... but it should be an issue upon appeal.

Sure... ignore it all. The bank records, suspicious activity reports, the wire transfers, the Privat bank transactions, the LLCs, the texts, the emails, WhatsApp messages, photos of Joe with Hunter’s business partners, whistleblower testamony that Biden is “brand, big guy, chairman" as well as several newly confirmed aliases. No telling what he had to say when he thought he wasn't being monitored. Yep... ignore it all.

I'm just waiting for the "P01135809 2024" tee shirts to start showing up.  You know they're gonna.

I get that they're in cult and respond to the world like willful children who believe only what they want to believe, and reality has little impact upon it, but I'm wondering how long the MAGA-maggots can maintain their delusions about this guy.  Trump has been recognized as a criminal for at least forty years already, and they're still putting him above their own Jesus.  https://www.axios.com/2023/08/21/trump-republican-2024-voters-poll

Ovid DeMaris wrote an expose on mob crime back in 1986 - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1451338.The_Boardwalk_Jungle?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=Oxb7GI0hDr&rank=7 -- and the whole last chapter is about... Donald Trump.  That's how blatant this is, and how long he's been getting away with shit.  And yet there are still people out there thinking he's innocent and even "holy."

We have a big group of people out there who are just too weak to admit they're wrong and that they're gullible.  It's excusable for people to get fooled or make bad choices... it's a lot less excusable to not face those mistakes and instead keep doubling down on them.  Nothing's ever gonna make 'em wise up. The battered-wife syndrome is in full effect for an entire party... they'd rather just take the flowers and keep getting smacked around than break their co-dependency with this pick.

I take no joy in the mugshot -- it's embarrassing that our country got so stupid that a criminal got elected -- and I'm sorry that a lot of people are getting their feelings hurt because they got rooked, but shit, dude, wake up.  Trump's in trouble because he stupidly got himself in trouble, and he deserves it.  This isn't persecuton, it's prosecution, because he did the shit, it's on tape.  I'm not sure it's good for the country to have a former president in prison, but if that's what it takes to wake people up that, yeah, you made a baaaaaaad fuckin' choice, learn from it and don't make another one, then... lock him up.  If the same can be served by just disgracing him and sending him off to whatever version of San Clemente can be arranged for him, fine, but for fucksake, end this stupid cult so the country can get functional again.

And, also, could they please stop sending a supposed billionaire money!  I keep saying the entire Republican party is a televangelist scam at this point, but I wish they'd give me a little more of a challenge to prove it.  Jeez.

The Donald Trump Mug Shot Is Here

Day Of Reckoning: In Pursuit Of All The Ex-President’s Crimes - Page 5 F4Vlu0HXoAAwE6b?format=jpg&name=small

Trump had his mug photographed after surrendering to the Fulton County district attorney’s office on 13 felony counts for trying to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. While this is the fourth time the ex-president has surrendered on criminal charges since April, it is the first time he’s had his mug shot taken. Earlier this month, before Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis charged Trump, Fulton County sheriff Pat Labat told a reporter, “Unless somebody tells me differently, we are following our normal practices, and so it doesn’t matter your status, we’ll have a mug shot ready for you.” (His height and weight were also recorded: He apparently reported six-foot-three and 215 pounds, if you're wondering).

While most people probably wouldn’t want such an image to be made public, Trump is presumably not too broken up about it, given that he has used his indictments in multiple fundraising emails, including when he was charged by the Manhattan district attorney’s office this past spring. At the time, Trump was reportedly “offered a chance to surrender quietly and be arraigned over Zoom,” but instead “opted for a midday, high-profile booking at the Manhattan courthouse.” As one law enforcement official told Rolling Stone at the time: “He wanted a perp walk, he wanted daylight hours. He wants to get out of the vehicle and walk up the stairs.” Not to mention that in the Georgia case, as the Guardian reported on Tuesday, Trump “had his lawyers negotiate the booking to take place during the prime viewing hours for the cable news networks.”

The ex-president has raised millions off of his legal woes, and given that that appears to be a point of pride for the campaign, there’s probably a nonzero chance supporters will soon be able to purchase T-shirts, hats, lawn signs, and other merch featuring the photo taken today.

Trump and his 18 accused coconspirators have all insisted they did nothing wrong. Throughout the week, many of Trump's codefendants, including Mark Meadows, John Eastman, Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, and Sidney Powell have surrendered and had their mug shots taken and released. Trump’s bond was set at $200,000, and included stipulations that the former president would not threaten witnesses, his codefendants, and unindicted coconspirators, including on social media.

Trump's cult keeps whining about all the crimes he's getting tried for.  Instead, they should be grateful that their "god-appointed hero" got away with so many of them in the past.

Definitely worth the watch:

Looking at the other president's supposed crimes...

Republicans throw all kinds of claims against Biden, their online puppets obsessively repeat them, and then when they bring 'em to an actual inquiry, they scream "no fair!" when they're asked to present actual evidence.

They're just jokes now. They've gotten used to their base being total morons and they think everybody else is that dumb, too. Why would they even bring this shit up if they weren't prepared to offer anything that was actual proof? It's just a puppet show for the childish Republican voters.

On eve of hush money trial, big, bold Donald Trump shows he's nothing but a giant chicken

Opinion by Rex Huppke, USA TODAY •

For a guy who fancies himself a tough alpha male – brimming with “I’m right and you’re wrong!” bluster like the cock of the walk – Donald Trump is, in reality, a giant chicken.

Trump's first criminal trial is set to start Monday in New York City. If you struggle to keep track of the man’s multitudinous indictments, this is the one involving Stormy Daniels, the adult-film star he’s accused of paying off in advance of the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about their alleged affair.

He has referred to Daniels as “Horseface” and written on social media, “She knows nothing about me, a total con!” Last year, he referred to the case as “the Stormy ‘horseface’ Daniels extortion plot.”

Trump has claimed – over and over and over again – that the case is part of a vast left-wing conspiracy against him, a “Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement” and “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”

On eve of first criminal trial, Trump is all talk – as usual
In a statement in March 2023, Trump name-checked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and boasted: “So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden.”

You’d think an abundantly confident macho man like Trump would be chomping at the bit to get into a courtroom with his lawyers and prove the “Thugs and Radical Left Monsters” wrong, to pull back the curtain on this unjust persecution/prosecution, to shove the evidence of his angelic innocence right in their smug faces.

You’d think. But Trump has been doing the opposite, trying everything possible to delay the trial. His lawyers filed three futile appeals just this week, all of which were shot down.

He’s grousing that he can’t get a fair trial in Manhattan, that the judge slapped him with an unconstitutional gag order and that the judge has a conflict of interest because his daughter is a Democratic political consultant.

(Trump's abortion problem: Florida Supreme Court puts abortion on the ballot – and hands former president a serious problem)

At this rate I expect he’ll show up to court Monday in a WHAAAAAAAAmbulance then get carried in on a stretcher, moaning about how the deep state gave him typhoid fever.

Donald Trump claims to be tough, but his fear of the Stormy Daniels trial says otherwise
These are not the actions of a bold, confident man who knows he’s innocent and will fight to prove the naysayers wrong.

That’s probably because Trump is not a bold, confident man who knows he’s innocent, and he doesn’t know how to “fight.” He just slings mud and runs away hollering: “I have never slung any mud! That is FAKE NEWS!”

(Republicans hate themselves: Nobody hates the GOP as much as Republicans hate the GOP. Just ask Marjorie Taylor Greene.)

As with every self-assigned description of Trump – a “great” president, a “brilliant” businessman, a “tough” guy – it’s all a mirage. It’s ineptitude, lunkheadedness and cowardice cloaked by flimsy branding.

Trump as a fighter? LOL! The man never fights, he just runs away.

When he lost the 2020 presidential election, his narcissism wouldn’t allow him to accept the results. So it became Vice President Mike Pence’s fault. It became a “rigged election.” And did Trump himself march into the halls of Congress to stop the transfer of power, bravely buoyed by facts he believed were in his favor?

Nope. He dispatched the most gullible of his supporters, let them mob the U.S. Capitol and let them get locked up. If he loses again in November, he’ll do the same thing – talk a good fight, then send in the rubes.

When the trial starts Monday, Trump will finally face accountability
On Monday, barring a legal miracle, the man who thinks so highly of himself that he autographs Bibles will step into a courtroom and become the first former U.S. president to face a jury of his peers in a criminal trial.

(slide show @ site)

©Tom Costello, Asbury Park Press/USA TODAY Network
Rioters stand on the West front of the U.S. Capitol building to protest the election of President-elect Joe Biden on Jan 6, 2020. More than 1,000 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol attack. The most serious charge has been seditious conspiracy - a felony involving attempts "to overthrow, put down or to destroy by force the government of the United States." Roughly 570 have pleaded guilty and 78 have been found guilty at trial. Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the right-wing Oath Keepers militant group, was given the longest of the sentences - 18 years in prison - for seditious conspiracy and other crimes. Leaders of the Proud Boys, another right-wing group, also were convicted of seditious conspiracy. They have yet to be sentenced.

He is terrified of that moment. The narcissism at his core has never met accountability. If he had a lick of confidence, he wouldn’t be paying attorneys – probably with GOP donor money, not his own – to pull every whack-a-doodle legal trick they can muster to delay, delay, delay.

He wouldn’t be spending hours online and at rallies griping and whining and woe-is-me-ing.

He’d be ready, self-assured and eager to clear his name. He’d be tough.

He’s not.

Trump is a chicken. A frightened, clucking chicken who, as of Monday, will have no room left to run.
