Headmaster of West Palm Beach school arrested on child sex charges

A headmaster from a school in West Palm Beach was arrested on 10 counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, according to deputies.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says 54-year-old Randy Konsker — the headmaster of Matlock Academy, a private high school — is also facing charges of sexual battery with a minor.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A Florida man thought he was being smart when he stole opioids from the medicine cabinet of a home where he was staying.

However, Peter Hans Emery, 56, quickly learned he didn't steal opioids at all. Instead, the laxatives he took probably sent him running to the bathroom.

Tallahassee yoga studio shooter was 'disturbed' and hated women, police say


Wrapping up a three-month investigation, Florida authorities said Tuesday that a 40-year-old man who killed two people and injured five others in a yoga studio was a "disturbed individual" with a "hatred towards women."

Tallahassee police said after conducting dozens of interviews and reviewing thousands of pages of documents they found no evidence that Scott Paul Beierle targeted anyone specifically in the frenzied shooting that happened last November.

But the investigation found that Beierle — who police said had a pattern of sexual misconduct stretching back to grade school — planned the attack in advance and was expecting to die once it was over. Authorities also said he had a history of accessing yoga-related pornography. Materials authored by him included themes of rape, torture and murder. A website he maintained prompted one woman to alert the FBI about his website months before the shooting.

Florida man charged with threatening Cory Booker, Rashida Tlaib, Eric Swalwell


U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-California, was among the members of Congress threatened by Tamarac’s John Kless, according to a criminal complaint in federal court.

Federal authorities have arrested a South Florida man and accused him of leaving menacing, racist and homophobic messages on the office voicemails of several Democratic members of Congress, two of whom are running for president.

John Kless, 49, has been charged with making threatening communications after U.S. Capitol Police say he called up the Washington offices of U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Eric Swalwell Tuesday and unleashed foul, profanity-laced rants peppered with death threats. Police say they’d also recently investigated Kless for threatening House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Kless, of Tamarac, was arrested Friday and made his initial appearance in court, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. He was released on bond with a GPS monitor and a requirement that he stay away from guns and the people he threatened.


According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Kless called Swalwell’s office Tuesday and warned that taking guns from Americans would be his “death bed.” Swalwell, a California congressman who frequently appears on cable news, is running for president on a gun-safety platform and recently held a guns town hall in Broward County attended by some parents of students slain last year in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, located about six miles from Kless’ apartment.


Kless, according to police, also made apparent references to Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a Muslim congresswoman who has been the subject of numerous death threats since her swearing-in this January. Kless, according to court documents, said he’d like to throw Omar off the Empire State building.

A Florida woman was arrested last week on felony neglect charges after police said her five children were living in filthy conditions, including a girl whose backpack allegedly had bugs crawl out of it at school.

Jessica Nicole Stevenson, 33, of Milton in Florida's Panhandle, was arrested May 3, two weeks after an elementary school worker alleged that Stevenson's second-grade daughter had worn the same clothes to school for a week, court documents filed by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office read.

The school worker made the allegation April 18 to a sheriff's deputy, who investigated.
The worker alleged, according to the deputy's investigation report:
• The girl, when asked, didn't know the last time she'd taken a shower or a bath.
• The worker gave the girl clean clothes, and dirt "was caked into" the old clothing.
• One of the garments "had caked fecal matter and urine soaked into" it.
• Previously, "hundreds of bugs crawled out of (the girl's) backpack in the lunchroom," and the worker was told that the children's house "is currently infested with roaches."
• The school had given the girl numerous new sets of clothes, "but eventually wears them over and over again."

That night, a sheriff's deputy checked the family's home, where Stevenson and her five children, ranging in age from 5 to 14, lived.
The house was infested with roaches and extremely filthy, the investigation report reads.

"The roaches were on nearly every surface in the home, to include on the children's mattress, in the pots and pans in the kitchen, and inside the cabinets/fridge," the report says.
Piles of cat feces were "all over the floor," and the cabinets had no food, according to the report.

"There were no clean clothes anywhere in the home except a few articles between the oldest children and the mother," the report reads.
The school worker said she alerted Florida's Department of Children and Families to the family at the start of the school year. The DCF visited the home "but determined it did not meet their removal criteria," the sheriff's deputy's investigation report reads.

Stevenson was charged with five counts of neglect of a child without great bodily harm, a third-degree felony. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
After bond was set at $12,500, Stevenson was released on May 4 after paying or promising to pay 10%, court documents say.

Florida Man Arrested for “I Eat Ass” Sticker on Truck, Case Tossed

A Florida man was arrested last week for putting an “I Eat Ass” sticker on his truck, Orlando Weekly reports.

Assistant State Attorney John Foster Durrett stated in a May 9 letter to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office that all charges against Dillon Shane Webb, 23, have been dropped, and that Webb’s “I Eat Ass” sticker is protected by the First Amendment.

“Having evaluated the evidence through the prism of Supreme Court precedent it is determined the Defendant has a valid defense to be raised under the First Amendment of our United States Constitution,” Durrett wrote. “Given such, a jury would not convict under these facts.”
