I just watched the most idiotic interview on CNN where the President of Bikers for Trump wanted to Boycott Harley because they were moving some manufacturing overseas. The guy was uneducated and quite frankly stupid, but after the rant, the CNN host tells him that his tee shirts and other items that his organization uses were made in Haiti. This guy ignores her and starts spewing chit about veterans and hard working blue collar workers. He then at the interview holds a folded American Flag up.

I must disclose that I think most people who ride motorcycles that I have known over the years are divided into two groups. People who love to ride. People who have a deep seated need to be seen as a bad boy. The problem is that the later is now what most old babyboomers who ride their Harley's fall under. This idea of rebellion is what I think feeds the Trump base. They want to blow up the status quo as bad boys because the status quo has put them in a general category........the deplorables, or before Hillary we simply called them losers.

So the losers are now running our government. It is good to know that the kid who was struggling to keep his D average is now rewarded for his innate lack of intelligence and bikers for Trump somehow become relevant.

Trump is jealous that his big-daddy Putin has his "Night Wolves" motorcycle gang, so he's trying to get the same thing.  Trump has that marshmallow-man toadie syndrome, where he thinks if he surrounds himself with "tough guys" that people might think he's "tough," too.

As far as bikers go, these guys are a buncha finky cosplaying LARP-ers riding stock bikes with windshields and trunk space and all the rest.  I've got an old girlfriend who's a biker and they're what she contemptuously calls "motorcycle enthusiasts."  Just chubby mid-life-crisis posers who buy a bunch of corny cliched gear, ride a dorky unmodified showroom bike, and think that makes 'em a badass "Son of Anarchy." They're about as badass as the tablecloth at a child's birthday party.

Plus, there's this little problem with one of the guys Trump was posing beside:

Bikers for Trump DkbJp1OVsAA8VOJ

Kinda inconvenient to be hanging out with some Waffen-SS wannabe on the anniversary of Charlottesville. Oops.

You can also see Trump keeping his hand over one guy's confederate flag patch, so it won't show. You can still see the "I love guns and titties" patch, which I don't really have a problem with much, but then I'm not an evangelical so it wouldn't make me a hypocrite. And there's also a "I may look calm but in my head I've already killed you three times" patch, which, again, I have no problem with, but it's pretty funny when we have people whining about the "violent left." Smile

When I was a kid, most people used a bike to get somewhere cheaper than owning a car. It had nothing to do with being a bad boy, or posing. It had more to do with getting to work when they did not have the money for a car.

I just laugh at the weekend bikers who come into our little town bar. I went to Sturgis on the 50th anniversary and there were much fewer posers, but even then they were a problem. These are accountants, lawyers, and small business owners who enjoy the image of biking on a weekend. All the silly regalia reminds me of boy scouts and merit badges and camporee patches. Now these brainiacs are dictating trade policy because the wannabee tough guy in the white house screwed up and Harley is moving......it is on Trump, but if bikers are really stupid enough to reject Harley because Trump gutted them.....then who cares......stupid is not going to be fixed.

I know T enjoyed riding his bike and he had an accident what looked like loose gravel, but he claimed it was an oil slick. I remember his grandson talking at the grave side service about how T would wear gloves with the fingers cut off so his fingers were exposed. The grandson laughed about how T froze his asz off with the biker regalia of the cut gloves on a cold fishing trip. You know sometimes trying to be cool can end up looking pretty stupid to a young kid. To me it is just a bunch of followers posing to be something which is perceived to be cool. I find it all so juvenile, yet the kids who were getting Ds in school are now in charge.

Yeah, a lot of bikers are kind of goofy now. My old girlfriend pretty much got raised by a couple of Hell's Angels. She can take a bike apart and put it back together with just a few old tools on the side of the road... she knows what she's doing. But a couple years ago she went nomad for a couple months, just to see if she could still do it, and she went to California and hung out with some Hell's Angels and thinks they're just goofy now. She said most of them sat around staring at their phones and talking about Facebook, like any other citizen. And most of them didn't know how to work on their own bikes. The old Sonny Barger days are pretty much gone, it seems...

People had to work on their bikes because of the economics of getting a car. A bike could get you to work. As soon as a person had enough money, they would get a car, but ask anybody who understands what I am talking about having to ride home in the rain and not having the comfort of a car....not by choice.....not about showing off a bike, or patch, or pretending to be a tough guy....they were tough guys and the bike was an economic necessity, and they had to learn to fix them.

They turned it into a business. Those old guys are probably checking stock quotes.

After Hunter Thompson's book, Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga, came out and later, when they hooked up with Ken Kesey and then Tom Wolfe published The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, they had to deal with lawyers and stuff like intellectual property rights.

At some point they learned how to monetize the whole thing--one of their lawyers probably showed 'em how. Remember, every member has to pay dues and every chapter has to pay fees. I think you even have to buy all the patches and stuff from the parent chapter or corporation or whatever. The old guys, the charter members, are sitting pretty, counting their dough, probably driving Volvos and trailering their bikes to Sturgis and Daytona. Hell, I'd bet some of them are riding souped-up Rascal scooters by now--no offense, Seaoat.

While loony liberal leftists try and malign them, the fact is these kind of men are the heart and soul of America.  Courageous hardworking traditional family men who made and make this country Great.

Many of them (I daresay, most)  have also put their lives on the line in service to this country to defend you and me from the evils and injustices that abound in this world.

I am proud of them.  True Patriots, all!

You apparently don't know the difference between criminal outlaw biker gangs (like the Bandidos here in Texas, the Hells Angels, etc) and regular everyday bikers who are by and large some of the best people you will ever want to meet.

Bikers for Trump and the Patriot Guard and like groups are not outlaw bikers.

ConservaLady is correct in part in her last post about groups like Bikers For Trump and Patriot Riders.  They are not the same as OMG 1% "bikers" some folks might usually think of when they think of the word "biker."  Far, far from it.  (But she only knows that because it was I, actually, who educated her on the world of the different kinds of people who dress up like "bikers"!)

Bikers For Trump and Patriot Guard are not really "clubs" per se, rather they are organizations for a specific purpose whose members may or may not belong to some club.   I would go further in depth about the various types of "biker" clubs and organizations, and the ins-and-outs of that world, but I don't want to bore you.

As for me, I've ridden motorcycles since I was a little kid and currently own and ride a Harley.   I'm not a snob about Harley's though, I've owned and ridden many jap bikes over the years as well.  The best kind of bike to have is the kind that makes you smile, as someone once told me.  I don't wear patches, pins, or other regalia, and don't belong to any clubs or fly any flags "I refuse to belong to any club that would have me as a member" I like to say   Laughing  (that's from Groucho Marx, I think?)  If other people want to do that stuff, well ... whatever floats their boat is fine by me.  Don't bother me none.  It takes all kinds to make a world.

Yeah, I've heard of them, but it's not "loony liberal leftists" disrupting the funerals -- it's conservative Christian extremists, like the Westboro Baptist Church. That's who the Patriot Guard started up to fend off. I don't think you'll find any "leftists" disrupting the funerals of service members. It's usually "leftists" who are trying to get veterans more health care, while the Republicans repeatedly cut their funding.

You're one seriously dishonest, deranged moron. Lies are all you've got. Must be depressing, knowing how much you have to LIE to defend all the wrong-headed junk you believe in.

I'm surely not going to lump all bikers into one category...there are plenty of good people out there who ride motorcycles, and I've ridden on plenty of them. Seaoat was right about this being the new pastime for a bunch of people who probably shouldn't go near a bike...and I will reiterate the helmet caution, because there are still people who think they should ride without one (ahem)...so I'll just put this here:

You nailed this sock perfectly. I shared office space with the brother of Randy Shilts who wrote the "the band played on" memorializing the spread of Aids in the homosexual community in San Francisco, and popularized by the HBO movie. At his funeral Christians from Kansas under the direction of Westboro church, yelled and heckled at grieving family. He said it was the most horrible experience in his life. Christians.......yea keep telling us about you guiding us with these principles.......faux Christian sock let me be the first to tell you that most of these bikers shared T's dark side of hate for homos, blacks, and jews.....yet he too was a nice guy, but it is the evil that creeps into folks lives when a fascist leader draws out the evil to gain politically which is the danger to America. I loved T, but I knew he was much more than the hate he often spewed on the forum with Bob......the two of them would go out to lunch. I hope we as a society can strive for good, and reject evil and those who peddle the same for political gain.

You know very well that T was a regular follower of Alex Jones, who now, thankfully, has been banned from FB, YouTube and Twitter for his over the top lying and fearmongering.

Actually, they are not phobias. Nazi hate chit was what T and I would discuss as did Bob. Sorry, but that is the truth, and after I am dead and somebody says that Seaoat sure would post long wordy posts......that is the truth, and is not disrespect for the dead. Just because you think fascist nazi philosophy is on the spectrum of political discussion, I simply disagree. It is a scourge on humanity and deserves not a moment of rational discussion and needs to be attacked as evil at every turn, and that is what good people do.

My words have been written, as Bob's words are here, and T's words are here....nobody who have read our words would disagree with what I have said, and there will be plenty of others here who will write the truth about fascist concepts. I remember Bob going into a rant about Westboro Church and Hickory Hammock Church in Milton, and I remember T spewing alex jones and nazi chit all the time. It does not change the fact that Bob and T became friends, but their positions were never in doubt, and my positions are simply how I have lived my life.....every man and woman should be treated fairly under the law and that justice requires hard work by good people to fight evil.
