Yep, it's confusing. It's almost like they're on hallucinogens. What they're seeing is not the real world at all.
Again, I blame church. From an early age they're taught to just
believe things, and reality has no bearing on what they think. They start out with the idea -- "This is what I want to believe, and so I do, and all who try to dissuade me are my enemies and not to be trusted" -- rather than look at the real world and then arrive at the idea from facts and logic. It's cult mentality. It's like Scientologists truly believe that a galactic commander named Xenu dropped thetans into volcanoes from DC-8s and their ghosts fill human bodies and cause all their problems. It's absurd, silly, and insane, but they decided to believe it and so they do. They're committed, they have a lot invested in believing it, their world's a mess if it isn't true. It's like "uranium one" -- no matter how many times and how thoroughly that gets debunked, even by FOX News itself, the people who want to believe it will willfully do so. Otherwise they don't have a good argument and they lose, and defeat is humiliating.
Trump's cultists have decided Trump is strong, the same way they decided Obama was bad for the economy, despite all the numbers to the contrary. They think what they want to think and that's it, the end. Any facts to the contrary of their decided outcome will be dismissed, while any facts they can find supporting it will be magnified a thousandfold, and the rest will be handled with "what about...?" distractions.
Trump put in the most suck-up, lickspittle performance with Putin any president's ever done. He took Putin's word for it -- practically giving him an okay to meddle in our elections -- and
blamed the U.S. for things Putin did. He also fawned over Kim Jung Il when he was face-to-face with him, even saluting a North Korean general. It's all on tape, undeniable, anyone can watch it, and no matter how much someone may
want the guy to succeed, there's really only so much spin any sane person can give that fawning behavior.
If Obama had done that, they'd have lost their minds. But since it's Trump, they say, "No, no, that was actually really tough-guy!" and try to pretend he's Matt Freakin' Dillon, no matter how incredibly
silly that is.
Anybody who reports accurately on Trump's pathetic behavior gets dismissed as "fake news," while any propaganda that tries to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear gets hailed as "accurate." It is willful solipsism. The world
has to be the way they see it or it all crumbles for them. They write the headlines the day before every event, and the day after they try to force what actually happened to fit it, no matter how much they have to distort.
You can try to wise them up with fact after fact, but it's not going to do any good. It's frustrating. It's like dealing with a kid who insists the sky is green -- he's wrong, but he's gonna keep saying "is too" until you just give up. They count on you to finally just get worn out with trying to make them acknowledge reality, then they pretend that means they're right. Whoever says "is too" last wins.
No matter what Trump does, they are going to continue to praise him and say he's a success, because the alternative is admitting they're idiots who voted for the worst possible person, defiled their own country, and got fooled by a big con job. And when Trump is voted out, they'll claim something unfair happened, rather than face it that the country rejected him... and them.
It's Orwellian, literally. War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength. He who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past. The whole administration is built on propaganda, and a trust that the cult will willfully dismiss anything that contradicts it.
Trump constantly tries to cut his herd off from the legitimate journalism that would hurt him, and steer him toward the propaganda that keeps their brainwashing working. And because they
want to believe -- often just out of spite or hatred for "those smartass know-it-all loonie liberals" -- they eagerly aid and abet him. I mean, look at it -- Putin attacks our system of government, and who's the enemy Trump spends all his time railing against? The media. Because the media would make him have to confront Putin, and he doesn't want to.
He even tells you not to believe your own eyes, just what he's telling ya. It doesn't get much more "give me your brain" than that.
"Just remember, what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what’s happening. Just stick with us, don’t believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news.” - Donald Trump

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any Party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments which he would not be able to understand, much less answer. And yet he was in the right! They were wrong and he was right. " - George Orwell, 1984
So, Trump is strong because they decided he was strong a long time ago. And they're married to that, no matter what. No matter how much he backs down to our enemies, crouches and piddles when he's face to face with them, they'll keep saying it because reality has
nothing to do with what they believe.
