If the purpose of the 2nd amendment is to allow for a militia to protect us from a corrupt/tyrannical/wayward government...

Maybe what really needs to happen is for Democrats to infiltrate the NRA. Join it and change it from within. Remove the two NRA zombie spokespeople that whip up their base. After gaining control, call for common sense gun laws. At least it will be fun watching the heads of the tyrants in Washington explode at the thought of so many millions of responsible Democrats with their hands on guns. After all the the second amendment is for all Americans and not just right wingnut republicans in shithole red states.

Think about it. There are anywhere between 3 million and 7 million Muslims in the United States. There are only around 5 million members of the NRA. A mass membership drive by Muslim-Americans could effectively give them control of the organization.

Within days, Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan would be lining up his GOP congressional colleagues to back emergency legislative measures, such as universal background checks and longer waiting times on gun purchases. Some right-wing pundits might even start questioning the hallowed Second Amendment itself. President Donald Trump, meanwhile, would probably start tweeting out attacks on the “losers” at the NRA for cozying up to “radical Islam.”

And black folks. I've seen this happen in person -- a lot of gun-rights advocates start backtracking when the people getting the guns are black. They're kind of hung up about that.

The same anti-Republican political action committee responsible for a billboard that targeted Matt Gaetz in January has paid for a second billboard in Pensacola, this time taking aim at the NRA.

The new sign on North W Street near West Fairfield Drive was paid for by Mad Dog PAC, an organization registered in December 2017 by Claude Taylor, a former White House staffer under Bill Clinton's administration.

The billboard reads: "The NRA is a terrorist organization."

Mad Dog PAC's billboard campaign is intended to target House Republicans ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.
