The most important criminal sexual abuser the world has ever seen, has just endorsed a fellow brother in abuse. Why am I not surprised?

And Mitch McConnell who formerly announced that Roy Moore should step aside, was reminded that the big donors would disappear if the republicans lost control of the senate. Uncle Mitch is now fully behind Moore's behind.

Why am I not surprised?

Bigger question: How did these fruitcake assholes get elected to high office in the government of the United States of America?

I blame Obama.

What did Democrats think would happen when they put a gay black muslim socialist foreigner in the White House? That there would be no backlash from flyover country? Razz

The problem is flyover country. We have two cultures in America. One strives for education and civilization, the other takes pride in as little education as possible and barbarism glued together by old testament morality. It is getting scarier in flyover country as the bottom seems to never be reached.

America hasn't reached bottom yet but it's getting closer to hell.

I wonder if Vegas is laying odds that he gets banned at the Washington Mall too.

The pressure is now on the tax bill reconciliation committee to get-er-done before Jones gets seated in January.   And the unruly tea-party faction in the House better vote for whatever the Senate representatives of that committee push back to them to pass in that bill.

Corker's not gonna vote for it for sure, and Susan Collins I would say is unlikely.  If those two vote against it and they allow negotiations to drag out into January  .... losing the Alabama Senator's vote would bring the Senate vote down to 49 and it wouldn't pass.

Personally, I'd rather they back up on this tax bill thing ... bring moderate Democrats in on the process, and come up with a tax bill they could actually get at least ten or fifteen Demo votes on. That would be the mature, grown-up thing to do.

The Moore upset actually puts the Senate in the driver's seat for the upcoming year.  The House will be wasting their time passing any legislation that any two moderate centrist Republican Senators would oppose.   And that's a good thing in my book.

Thank god for our bicameral legislative system, is all I can say.

Once they get this tax bill rammed through, up next on Congress agenda is "welfare reform" (whatever that means?)

All I know is that thousands upon thousands of white single mothers working at WalMarts, McDonalds, dollar stores, and living in trailer parks and low rent apartments in "flyover country" all across America should take heed.

They are giving $1.5 trillion mainly to the wealthy (if the bill passes) and they're not even pretending that the bill would be self-funding, relying instead on pie-in-the sky economic growth. Any sane person knows that trickle-down has never worked and will never work. I like Lewis Black's analogy. He says tape a cup to your ankle and pee in it...see how much it fills up.

Where are they getting that money to "give" to the "wealthy"?

I suggest this simple change in the tax bill. Raise the top bracket to 45%. No deficit busting and the sixty percent going to the 1% will be offset by the increased rate on the top earners.

Let's just raise the Illinois rate to 99%. Thanks comrade.

Here's a thought: stay tuned to congressional discussions in the weeks/months to come. Keep an eye out for the Republicans to SUDDENLY discover that, hey, the economists were right and we are growing the debt like crazy. They will look around for a fix and not being able to raise rates on the wealthy they will turn to their favorite "starve the beast" programs like Medicare and Social Security and whatever else they can get their hands on that will put a few more dollars into the national till. They will only cut things that hurt the middle class and working poor because they think it won't matter.

I believe you are spot on Shoe . . . . we all know they have looked for an opening to justify their latent objective.
