Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort was as much as $17 million in debt to pro-Russia interests before joining the Trump campaign, records obtained and reported by The New York Times show.

The Times obtained financial records filed in the tax haven of Cyprus, where Manafort allegedly kept bank accounts while he worked in Ukraine and invested with a Russian oligarch. The Times reported the money appears to have been owned by shell companies connected to his businesses in Ukraine, while he worked as a consultant for the pro-Russia Party of Regions.

According to Rachel Maddow's explanation tonight the Ukrainian business partner had taken Manafort to court to sue for payment of the 17 million but when Trump's campaign was getting organized Manafort came forward to work for Trump at no expense to him (Trump) and the law suit or at least the pursuit of the Manafort debt was suddenly dropped. The dots to connect here are that basically the Russians were forgiving Manafort's debt and using him as a pro-Russian influence in the Trump campaign.

You may recall that the only plank in the Republican platform that the Trump people changed was the one that changed the language regarding our relationship with Ukraine. Manafort had previously been working in Ukraine on behalf of Russian interests.

There continues to be a Russian under every rock and another shoe of this centipede drops.

We are less than four weeks from the chit hitting the fan. He is being investigated by NY state in conjunction to the federal investigation. If Trump tries to use his pardon powers to silent folks, the state folks under NY state law can still put him in jail. President Trumps conduct is getting more outrageous, and I have a very good sense that Sessions is talking on the obstruction charges as to what Trump said to him. Sessions could get Trump impeached, get the VP in office and keep his frickin agenda in place to expand the war on drugs. President Trump is in real trouble as Kasowitz is being ousted from the legal team, as the washington lawyers are jumping in, but it is too late.

In addition, President and possible money laundering while in the state of NY will use state law which the President has no power of pardon. Keep an eye on NY pressing and getting folks to talk and cut deals. So even if the impeachment fails, he will be facing prosecution in 2020, and probably a good portion of his family under ricco statutes. The President and this nation is getting very close to a crisis, and President Trump has no history of backing down, and has a history of doubling down.

There are so many legal land mines. He cannot avoid them all.

One thing that works against him is the image he has of himself. In his mind, he sees himself as much more intelligent and educated than he really is. I've seen many of his quotes where he's talking about how intelligent he is, how quickly he learned something etc. A normal person does not say those things.

He is delusional and out of touch with the reality around him. He does not understand how government works. Maybe he will take time behind bars to read up on some basic civics.

If he does end up behind bars it will not be for long. He will never do 9 years like OJ no matter how often he committed treason.
