http://www.pnj.com/story/news/2017/01/24/federal-hiring-freeze-could-harm-panhandle-economy/96966354/

Federal Jobs in the three county area (from the article):

Santa Rosa County: 1,467 active duty military and 578 federal civilian employees, excluding postal workers. The active duty military presence is 2.8 times the average for a similar-sized area and the federal civilian employee presence is the same.

Okaloosa County: 17,062 active duty military and 8,129 federal civilian employees, excluding postal workers. The active duty military presence is 12.7 the average for a similar-sized area and the federal civilian employee presence is 5.4 times the average.

You need to catch up. This occurred on Monday.

What might be your point?

The article is from today at the PNJ website (likely in Wednesday's PNJ), and note this remark made in the comments section:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This is tooo good! Escambia County is going to be like Mumbai. Most of you are going to be squatting over holes in your back yards while the favored ones who grift well will be seated on gold plated toilets just like Don the Con. Just remember YOU asked for it!

Trump is desperately trying to so Reaganesque . . . . . he wants a PT boat named after him.

If he really wants to save the money he should get rid of the DEA's $2 billion plus a year budget. What good have they really been since it's inception in 73?

It is amusing that the area which has the greatest number of government teat suckers voted close to 75% for Donald Trump, but I am liking our President more each day. This is exactly why I could never be a democrat, because the Dixiecrats down here are democrats to the core looking for handouts, but when it comes to racial politics, they switched in mass to the Republican party.......pay back is a bitch.

I would like to see DEA budget cut in half in the next ten years. I understand a small footprint, but the war on drugs has been a failure and a waste of federal dollars.

Close it and let the FBI investigate large drug smuggling cases and take some money to put into addiction's center instead of sending these people to prison.

The freeze includes hiring for the VA.

Active military, national security, health related and other positions are not included in the freeze old man.

Active military, yes; DOD civilians are in with the rest of the herd, Nerd. They hire civilians to crank the pencil sharpener at NAS Whiting. Both Whiting and NAS Pensacola are begging for a shakeup in that regard. Eglin is probably worse.

And again, the aforementioned people in my response are not included.

“The head of any executive department or agency may exempt from the hiring freeze any positions that it deems necessary to meet national security or public safety responsibilities. In addition, the director of the Office of Personnel Management may grant exemptions from this freeze where those exemptions are otherwise necessary,” the memo said.

So you are declaring all of the civilians from KKKMiltonKKK who work at Whiting are essential to national security? You are not very smart......

Trump also froze hiring at the VA. I hope you are not claiming any VA benefits quickly when you retire from the USAF.... The backlog at the JACC in Pensacola is stunning right now.

Yeah, let's have some fracking earthquakes to keep our minds off Donald Trump. That's exactly what we need.

Talk about switching.   How soon you forget your many condemnations of Trump during the campaign.  Now he's becoming your hero?  I'm appalled.  Not that you've ever cared what I (or anyone else here) thinks, but I'm afraid you're sadly, sadly mistaken if you've decided to like this frightening child-man and his emerging dictatorial, suppressionist tactics.   The handwriting is on the wall.  Read it.

Neat avatar polecat but I can't decide if it's Kim Jong Trump or a new Dustin Hoffman role. Laughing

Excuse me? My husband is a 70-year-old veteran who receives his treatment at the VA, and had his 2nd heart surgery in June. They have been experiencing a severe shortage of primary care doctors. He likes his doctor, and the man is wonderful, but he has too many patients. I assure you that neither my husband nor I voted for Trump. Let me get this straight...Trump does something stupid...again...and that reinforces your decision to remain a Republican? Sure...makes no sense whatsoever.

It's not a lie. And I am not quoting from Breitbart, Hotair, or the gateway pundit. Your favorite news sources (all beamed in from outer space!).
