She seems like a broken soul who tried to do the right thing, was used by Assange, and stuck around to face justice (unlike Snowden).

How does one connect the dots that Marx had anything to do with a pardon. Was this an economic decision? Every President pardons some folks at the end of their term. This pardon process has nothing to do with economic policy. So please explain the use of the concept Marxism to describe the tradition of pardons. I think it is safe to say to grant somebody a pardon, you must start with the certain proposition that person broke the law and is being punished. I do not understand the economic implication.

When she is released, she'll have served seven years.

Seven years for releasing low-level (not top-secret) documents, and she was pretty clearly mentally disturbed when she did so.

She also pleaded guilty to the charges and publicly apologized.

Seven years is more than enough.

I understand both sides of the arguments frankly; on one side this person compromised numerous so-called classified information and consequently was given the longest sentence yet for such an offense; on the other hand this person has served almost 7 years and the President decided to commute the sentence, I get it. When compared to recent issues the General Patraeus situation comes to mind because he didn't serve a day and his classified information was top secret but that put on display the differentiation between punishment for Privates vs Generals. . . .

That she earned herself some jail time is beyond legitimate dispute, but the proportional disparity between her punishment and the punishment received by people whose crimes she revealed is impossible to reconcile.

Seven years is more than sufficient for justice to be served.
