Obamacare was a disaster from the get-go. Obama felt he had to satisfy drug firms, insurers and medical equipment manufacturers. We should have had Universal Healthcare -- Medicare for all -- but Obamacare was what we got.

And now the Republicans are going to mess with it, and surely fail. And Trumpcare will be the same albatross around the new President's neck that it was for Obama.

Consider: The 25 million folks who will now lose their medical insurance represent an enormous angry vote that will chase the republicans in two years.

Gut Obamacare Mr. Pussy Grabber with the dead rat on your head. Go for it Mr. Ryan ...

Not true.

It's been an enormous success.

It has provided health coverage to 20 million people.

It's massively reduced the cost of health coverage for low-income families.

It's reduced the rates of uninsured by half among blacks and whites and by a quarter among Hispanics.

It's allowed people with expensive, chronic illnesses to get treatment.

It will help keep overall health costs down in the future.

It's had no negative impact on the employer health care system.

It's done all this without raising the deficit ... in fact, it's cut the deficit.

Nearly every single aspect of the ACA is not just popular, but very popular.

Does it have some problems?

Sure it does.

Some regions don't have enough competition.

Deductibles are too high if you choose to purchase a bronze plan.

And, a small segment of the population has been hit with steep premium increases.

But, those problems are affecting 10% of Obamacare at most.

90% is working spectacularly well.

Sal, I agree with most of what you say here, but the facts are several of the big insurers have dropped out and premiums are rising dramatically. Yes it needs fixing. But from their track record, it's more than likely the republicans will end up making it worse.

As good as you claim Obamacare is, medicare for all would be better. We need universal health care, and what the republicans do will get us there sooner. Repealing it and then eventually replacing it with some profit oriented mishmash will backfire on Trump and gang. For sure.

There are several aspects of Obamacare that improved the situation, like the basic requirements for insurers, which put some sleazy companies out of business because they didn't meet the new standards; like allowing college-age students to stay on their parents' policies; like covering people with pre-existing conditions...(some of these were dreamed up by the insurance companies to avoid paying claims). What Republicans propose is no different from what they've come up with in the past: "vouchers" for coverage...good luck with that...buying across state lines, which would solve nothing. In addition, they're going after Medicaid and, although it's on hold for now...eventually they'll try to diminish or dump Medicare...and they're already trying to reduce Social Security benefits by raising the age limit and allowing investors to raid the SS Trust Fund.

What pray tell, is the motivation for screwing social security recipients? It's good to know your enemies!

Yes, Sal, just another stellar contribution to the supposed conversation from our illustrious Markle, who has nothing to say whenever he's bested by truth and reason.

Yes, Sal, just another stellar contribution to the supposed conversation from our illustrious Markle, who has nothing to say whenever he's bested by truth and reason.

Virtually all of it is a lie.

[...]

The poll also found that voters in both parties support repealing the Affordable Care Act as long as people are allowed to keep their plans during a “realistic, modest transition period to get a new system up and running.”

Forty-eight percent of Democratic voters support the idea of repealing the law with a transition period, compared to 43 percent who reject the idea. Among Republicans, there was 88 percent support for this option, and among Independents there was 72 percent support, according to the poll.

A majority of voters, 54 percent, said Obamacare needs to be repealed or have major changes made to it.

The most common cause of dissatisfaction with the law was that it made health care too expensive (44 percent). Other reasons voters stated were that the law was forced on them (15 percent), that it does not work (12 percent), and that “Obama lied” (4 percent).

It's a "lie" if you trust advertisement-stuffed wingnut blogs, such as the source quoted from. Remember your very own words:

[b]All of its a lie? Twenty million people now have healthcare insurance who didn't have it before the ACA. Fact, not a lie. Yes there are problems that need fixing, and the republican track record in such matters is truly dismal.

No matter what Markle says in this forum, it is virtually all a lie!b]

Here is the source of the poll cited in the article. Your desperation is duly noted!
