Oh how time can change things. A month before the election, the media was in a frenzy over Donald Trump seemingly “refusing” to say he would “accept” the results of the election, if he lost, (which the media was certain he would.) But less than a month after the election, the media, and networks in particular have shown their hypocrisy in now giving a pass to Democrats who are demanding a recount in several states. On Monday’s morning shows, the networks downplayed the recount, barely mentioning it, while spending most of their time hyping Trump’s tweets rebuking the recount and voter fraud, instead.
On NBC’s Today, anchor Matt Lauer opened by blasting Trump as a “sore winner:”
MATT LAUER: Sore winner? Donald Trump now claiming voter fraud cost him the popular vote, this just hours after hammering Hillary Clinton for backing recount efforts in key swing states. But is there any proof of illegal voting, and at this point, does any of it really matter?

After going on about Trump’s tweets on the matter, NBC finally got to the reason for the tweets. Correspondent Hallie Jackson noted that Trump was “seemingly irritated” by the election recount started by the Green Party’s Jill Stein and joined in by Hillary Clinton. Matt Lauer emphasized that this recount was really no big deal, asking, “[W]hat's the likelihood it happens and what's the likelihood it makes any difference?”
Jackson responded by calling any changes resulting “extraordinarily slim.” Over on Good Morning America, ABC also spent the majority of the time criticizing Trump for criticizing the recount and making claims about voter fraud. Anchor George Stephanopoulos asked analyst Matt Dowd:
STEPHANOPOULOS: [M]atthew Dowd, start out with that claim, baseless claim, that millions voted illegally, so extraordinary given the fact that he won the election complaining about voter fraud in an election he won!
Correspondent David Wright also blasted Trump for “complaining loudly” about the “last ditch effort” that was “unlikely” to change the final results.

But the networks sang a different tune when they were certain Trump was going to lose the election a few weeks before.
Going back to the October 20 Today show, NBC threw a fit over Trump’s less than enthusiastic answer during a debate over whether or not he would accept the results of the election if he lost. Anchor Matt Lauer led the show by hyping Trump “twice declining to accept the election’s outcome if he loses.” Hallie Jackson soon after blasted “top Republicans” who, she predicted would “have to answer” for Trump’s statement that “defied” “a defining principle of democracy.” Jackson then hounded Trump VP Mike Pence to answer the same question, while giving Clinton VP pick Tim Kaine a platform to blast Trump’s “shocking” statement. Even more hilarious, Jackson touted Clinton’s rebuke of Trump’s “horrifying” statement, while Clinton now joins the recount efforts, now that she lost.
ABC was no different. On October 20’s GMA, George Stephanopoulos hounded Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway repeatedly to answer for Trump’s statement. Amy Robach followed up by asking Kaine, “What kind of impact” does Trump “not committing to accepting the results of the election” have, with “less than three weeks to go?” ABC also touted Hillary Clinton’s criticism of Trump not “accepting” the results of the election that hadn’t happened yet. The next day GMA continued the hype with correspondent Cecilia Vega blasted Trump for “refusing to change his tune about accepting the results of the election.”
GMA even took the opportunity to rewrite history to lecture Trump. Stephanopoulos and Jon Karl fondly “remembered” how “patriotic” Al Gore “graciously” conceded the 2000 election to George W. Bush to lecture Trump about how he needed to “accept” the results of the imminent election.
When things didn’t go their way, the media now is more than fine with recounts and letting liberals take as long as they want to contest the results of the election.

You libtards must be so proud to be two faced, doubled standard nut jobs. Carry on and let your hate flow. Bare your fangs and claws. You know you can do it. LOL

HRC was and still is her own worst enemy. Her "deplorables" comment enraged a lot of hard working people who may not have even voted if not for that comment and now her support of a meaningless "recount" - that's NOT going to happen - leaves her open to a P.O.d President-elect who was going to give her a free pass on her past issues. We'll see what happens.

Stein is a self serving plant against the progressive agenda.   The recount demand is a republican dream, like her candidacy.   The facts are simple.  Those people most impacted by fascist policies, could not bring enough energy to early vote where any issue of voter suppression could be resolved in a timely fashion before a provisional vote went uncounted.  People were too fricking apathetic to vote, so why as a Republican should I care about their fate.  Wasted energy.  Maybe America got this right.  Maybe all those college students who were looking for a free education decided not to vote, or vote for Stein as some idiotic protest that did not see Bernie win.  I have made my views on a totally free higher education known, and If I who loves most of Bernie's ideas find this naivety mind numbing, then those naive progressives who voted for Stein voted for Trump and should not be complaining now.

It think Trump is bad for America.  However, I have zero sympathy for a black person getting shot dead, if those parents of black kids are not willing to take the constructive and necessary step to vote to change injustice in America.  If it is true that half the people being arrested in protests, did not even bother to vote, then you know what there has to be consequences to stupidity.   Trump is a horrible long term stain on America, but sometimes it is darkest before the dawn.  People need to get off their aszes and vote.

The title of this thread is entirely erroneous. It is not the "DEMS" demanding a recount. For Pete's sake get your facts straight.

Because the most vulnerable and most gullible of our fellow Americans are going to be hurt the most, and that is wrong regardless of how they did or did not vote.

It's a tough and intractable problem.

Fundamentalist white Americans are deeply entrenched in their belief systems, have been fed a steady diet of misinformation and bullshit for decades, trust no one who they perceive as outside their tribe, and are easily convinced to vote against their own economic interests if they can be convinced that minorities will be harmed even more.

Their fears are based on myths and lies, but that doesn't mean they deserve what's coming to them.

But then again, you still call yourself a Republican, so I guess you're acting in character.

Able people might have to actually support themselves... oh the humanity.

Of course, it is the Democrats demanding a recount. She has collected more money from gullible Democrats than she did for her entire ludicrous campaign. Hillary Clinton, after calling Donald Trump horrific for suggesting a challenge to the vote, has joined the fruitless fray.

If you lived in Illinois, you would be a Republican. I however, have zero use for the Dixiecrat Republican Party. It is the bastardization of the Party of Lincoln filled with former Democrats who make local government seem worse than Chicago zoning regulations, or building code violations.......the dixiecrats are still democrats to the core, but they exported their hate and fear to the Republican Party and have successfully hijacked the same. Just give us more federal subsidy, and build more military bases in our state. No different than a machine alderman greasing the skids on a project being approved.

How could this be more fun?

Democrats are determined to make Hillary Clinton the first woman in history to lose the US Presidential election not once, not twice but THREE TIMES!

She certainly is a glutton for punishment. Perhaps that's why she hung onto Bill for so long.

Yes, she lost. However, she will always have the satisfaction of winning the popular vote at a record level, and being right on the issues, as Donald Trump is folding his tent on almost every issue he campaigned. History will be very kind. Not so much for your candidate, but I finally can agree on something, this will be way too much fun over the next four years reviewing broken campaign promises, and the certain inability to match the stellar Obama administration's record economic performance.........nothing but future giggles. Oh and please make sure you tell us about the popularity of the President.....that was your thing......how did that work out........not much better than your boy will do.

The recount is a green party/republican dream. Stein is no progressive, but a self serving shill for the oligarchy. This recount is further proof of the same. The disdain toward Nader who was sincere crushed him in 2000, but this lady has no such concern......mission accomplished, but I have no sympathy for a progressive who fell for this trap. None. You cannot handicap stupidity.

Ok, it is the "LEFT" demanding a recount. Does that comfort your little sensibilities?

I'm just here to point out the "LEFTS" screwed up double standards. Because you are all so FOS! You know it, and it doesn't matter to your libtard mind.
