Stills from various videos of the Keith Scott killing, clearly show that Scott was indeed wearing a black nylon ankle holster.
Holsters are for guns and now there should be little doubt the victim had a handgun. Nothing I've seen thus far reveals whether Scott was carrying his gun or pointing it, etc.
I'm beginning to think that the deaths of so many black men at the hands of cops is not based as much on race, as on class.
Let me explain; There should be no doubt that most urban black neighborhoods suffer from ultra-high unemployment, poor schooling and educational incentive, a high proportion of children being raised without a live-in father's presence, and overall, a lifestyle dictated by an almost total lack of integration. Black Americans living in these environments don't grow-up "American." They grow up black. Such an environment, overwhelmed by poverty promotes narcotics dealing, prostitution, gangs and greatly increased criminal activity. Chicago's notorious black on black homicide record attests to these deplorable and demoralizing aspects.
Obviously, the majority of whites who come into these neighborhoods on a daily basis are cops. Invaders with guns, occupiers, enforcers. Law enforcement officers tasked to enforce the rules in these ghettos know they are endangering their lives every working day. Of course their adrenaline levels go up. And because of the situation I've described, they have to be ready to use deadly force.
From these perspectives, life in a black urban ghetto becomes a war zone -- for the residents and the police. The "us" vs. "them" mode becomes an ever increasing daily reality.
Is it based on racism? White cops vs black citizens? In one sense, the answer is yes. But what should be considered, is it would be the same situation if the residents were all yellow, all brown, or all green.
The conflict between the police and the residents of black urban ghettos isn't based on racism, it's based on an economic system whose leaders continue to isolate and subjugate a minority. And the basis of that insanity stems from nearly three centuries of white people looking at black people as less than human. It's first class capitalist leaders looking at second class citizens, and exercising the belief that there's more profit (or less costs) keeping black urban ghettos isolated.
What else can better describe the emotions of the half-dozen or so cops who truly did feel the need to gun down Keith Scott BEFORE he tried to kill them?
Face it, most blacks are not highly educated or celebrated like Denzel Washington, Dr. Ben Carson, or Spike Jones. But there can be no argument there are African-American leaders, thinkers, writers, teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs -- thousands of them who have invested themselves in their dreams and succeeded financially as well as by making significant contributions to American society as a whole.
Such work ethic, intelligence intellect and success annihilates any idea that black Americans are genetically or intellectually inferior, or lazy, or violent, etc. Ben Carson earned and won his fame as a neurosurgeon.
With these facts in mind, it's obvious that there are two evils that have combined to bring us to what's taking place today between the police and millions of black Americans living in urban black ghettos.
Raw capitalism -- which has always looked at all workers, black, brown or white as foils to be exploited and controlled, coupled with white racism. In fact, historically, white plantation owners during the decades of slavery in the deep south, often promoted conflict between white tenant farmers, white workers, and black workers. Keeping the races in conflict let both sides concentrate on fighting each other and lessened any dangerous bond between white and black workers that would enable them to overthrow the oligarchy.
It's no different today. Many, if not most of the white people inhabiting the classic southern states, are as poor, as uneducated, and as hopeless as the black Americans they so avidly castigate.
As I see it, for the bloodthirsty oligarchs, that's still a very good thing.
No wonder men like Donald Trump promote hatred for immigrants, brown people, yellow people, Muslims, etc. And no wonder Trump's answer for rising crime in black urban ghettos is to double the size of the police forces used to keep the current system in place. No wonder he advocates "stop and frisk."
Whether she means it or not, Hillary's motto "we're stronger together" is the only way this country can survive.
Blacks, whites, yellows, browns ... are all people.
Reality.
