They say they go in threes, Prince, Chyna the wrestler and Doris Roberts.

Watch him take over a stage full of superstars at about the 3:30 mark ...

A large part of my youth passed away today.

He was a unique musical talent. He was a true artist. The flu seems to have taken another relatively young healthy person.

Although Prince was not of my era I absolutely recognized his remarkable talent(s) . . . . . my niece who is about 44 was a devout follower of Prince so I sent her message to let her know I mourn with her . . . . what a talent and what a tragic loss!

Possibly the most epic SNL performance in history.

Is that what he died of? The flu? He wasn't that old. That's a shame. Although I wasn't a devout fan I liked some of his songs. He was very talented musically.

Just saw on the tube that he was found dead in an elevator in his home . . .

I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few times, and got to see him play this one ....

It was so much fun.

He had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Quite an emotional response by folks in MN. They are very protective of him, and his legacy. He was truly loved by his neighbors. He stayed home yet impacted the entire world of music. I was introduced to his music on MTV videos, and heard he was an opening act for the Rolling stones in the early eighties and he was not well received initially by those crowds....however with time his music crossed over to so many.

It's looking like a drug overdose from Percoset he was taking for a hip surgery in 2010.They are reporting he got a naloxen shot at the hospital for an overdose rather than the flu. A lot of people get hooked on pain pills for chronic pain.-[[

I seldom use my pain pills and just deal with the pain, I am absolutely convinced that pain pills should only be used in emergencies. Sadly, I had an Aunt get addicted to pain pills after an accident.....it took almost a decade to unhook her and in the process she developed a drinking problem. Pain pills need to be cautiously used.

I didn't have any problem taking two kinds of oxi and another pain med and flexirol after my neck surgery... I was damn glad for them. I knew the downfalls though and was able to stop at six weeks. Surprised if drs were refilling 5 years later.

If I had a terminal illness getting addicted to pain pills would be the last of my worries. I'd eat them like candy rather than be in pain. I don't see the point of suffering. It drains you mentally and physically.

I'm with you, Viking.  Pain stresses the body in ways we probably don't even fully understand, and I'm pretty sure addiction would be the least of my worries as well, were I in a terminal state.  Still in all, you and I are talking hypothetically about you and me.  I feel certain I speak for both of us in saying the last thing we intend to do here is to tell a truly dying person how to live

I wasn't telling anyone how to live. I was just opining about addiction and the pitfalls but if the pitfalls didn't matter I wouldn't endure suffering but that's just me.

The liver breaks down pain pills, and if you had a compromised liver.....you might understand that a little pain is better than further damaging your liver. I remember folks taking tylnol and having a few drinks damaging their liver to the point they needed a transplant. Pain is telling you something, but excruciating pain, I agree....you need relief.

I know you weren't telling anyone how to live!! That's what I thought I was helping make clear, in case anyone thought differently. Sorry!

No that's ok. It's hard on a discussion board to convey meanings and people can interpret it wrong. We don't realize how it can sound to others.
